I am just curious about your opinions about those and which ones you play and why...for me it has become a hobby and more..I have all of them and I have listend to all of them..the very bad sounding ones..however...I just gave a quick spin.. ...but still I am thinking we have very good sounding AR`s which fit quite well for release .not only Vegas shows....

A buddy of mine sent me CDRs of the Louisville shows I attended.

I gave those a spin once.

I do like many CDR titles, so I'm far away from the number you have - that's for sure. I do like some of the June '74 shows. There are also some relatively good sounding ones from August '74. Even a few from '71 are enjoyable to listen to. Do you have some personal favorites?

I have some but it's more fun to listen to when you have a nice booklet with it and if they are silver discs.

As i started well behind most fans here so when i started collecting Concert cds money was tight at the time , so the only chance i got was to get CDRS so yes i still have alot but have been replacing them with silver disc when i can, but got along way to go until all of mine are proper copies, but yes i play them alot and enjoy listening to them and as you say Cisco i have very bad ones too which can be hard to listen to but i give all of them a spin.

he maybe gone but never forgotten.

So far I have listen to all I got from 1969 to Jan/Feb '73. I love to listen to them, some of them have really bad sound, so you get a little bit bored when you listen to them, but I decided I would do my own collection of Elvis' shows the way I want them. I retrack them more specific, and do a little with the mixing (lower the screams from audience if that is to loud after a song, reduce some hiss from the tape etc), and I also design new covers for them so each tour or Vegas engagement gets it's own design. An example of a serie title : ELVIS ON TOUR 1971 - SEPTEMBER TOUR. The series have it's own layout with right date, pictures, tracklist with running time for each song. I really enjoy to create this series, and I think it's cool to have my own design on them. I have done the same thing for the 50's recordings with interviews, shows, recording sessions and tributes.

I listen also to AR......It's exciting to get some of the sphere and intensity Elvis created from 1969 - 1977.
Also it holds a lot of history in these sort of recordings.
I especially sit and listen to them carefully.
Make noticions of it and type it into Access.
I hope I can help you in the future with it.

Greetz,

mrsongman

ps. Sorry for my bad English. :(

I'm listening to some of my CD-Rs again now as I'm updating my list and making some notes too.
Listened to all I have once. Made a lot of notes. Took me almost 2 years to get through all of them audience and soundboards.

Now I'm making some updates and listening to some again. There are lot's of interesting moments. Even the sound is really bad sometimes.

I don't think all of them deserve CD pressing. Most of them should be available free as it's study material only.

Also I have the complete “The concert years 1969-1977” CD-R serie - 105 CD-r

I think tha "PA" label is the biggest in this field, with hundreds of titles.

I wanna know if does it exist an audience recording of the "Aloha from Hawaii" concerts?

I bet that you are a beginner..

This reminds me of when I started collecting cdr. Astonishing that still the same fakes and wrongly dated shows are circulating..just one famous example..compare these..

YOU AINT NOTHING BUT A HOUND DOG 07/29/1976 SPRINGFIELD and FAYETTEVILLE FLOWERS – AUGUST 5, 1976.

You will find that they are identical.

Just check my website and you will find all those little bugs I have uncovered.......

hahaha, I will check on your website for sure!
In reality I don't collect no more CD-r.... but that's all I collected in the past years.... i have no more interest to collect this kind of material.... if there will be some interesting concert... labels like "memory records", "touchdown" & co. they will put it on a silver disc for us....

I don't have any problems with CDR! Sure they are not as good as silvers but they are a lot cheaper! ::rocks

Hi, Cisco.
In the 90's and early 00's, I managed to trade with others for hundreds of audience recordings of shows on CDR (actually, I still have some old CASSETTES from the 80's!), and I have always listened to them from time to time and enjoy them.
I long ago printed out from the internet a list of the shows, broken down into the different tours, and I would read about that tour or that residency in Vegas or Tahoe in Stein Erik Skar's excellent ELVIS: THE CONCERT YEARS book, to give me the context of the show and the backstory of that period. Of course, there are a lot more writings available now about specific Elvis tours and Vegas/Tahoe runs, but I still do the same thing today. Each tour has a unique flavor. It's nice that Ernst has taken it upon himself to have FTD eventually release something from each tour, but I cannot afford all the FTD's, so really, I still listen to a lot of audience recordings. Many with the old "PA" designation.
Those of us on this list who know Elvis' repertoire inside-out can listen to an audience recording made on a cheap cassette recorded hidden in someone's purse in the cheap seats up high and still enjoy the experience. After all, that's what the show would sound like from the cheap seats we probably would have been in at the time!
I really prefer a good audience recording to a soundboard. You can feel the excitement. Soundboards are nice to hear the nuances of Elvis' performance, or to savor James Burton's guitar work, etc., but there's a sterile quality to them for me.
The well-recorded audience recordings on labels like Straight Arrow are very nice, but I still enjoy opening a cold beer, turning up the volume on a muddy audience recording, and pretending that I am there.

I just missed seeing Elvis. When he played Denver in 1976, I was a teenager, but I wanted to go. By the time I found the money for the show (a few days later), all the seats were sold out except for "obstructed view" seats. At the time, I thought to myself, "Elvis ALWAYS seems to be on tour. I'll catch him next time he's in Denver in a year or two and I'll get down and get tickets the same day they are announced." Of course, I'm still regretting that situation today.

It was nice to finally get an audience CDR of that show in Denver 1976, as it's the show I WOULD HAVE seen. It's not a particularly unique show, as I remember, but I imagine being up there in the cheap seats and experiencing the magic, live and in person.

Best wishes from South Texas. I appreciate the work you've done over the years in terms of Elvis concerts and I always read what you have to say before purchasing an "import" of a live show.

BILL S.

ps, I am in the process now of organizing my old CDR shows chronologically and testing each one for CDR rot and then making a backup copy of each one that is OK. That has led me to listen to a LOT more shows....I probably average a show a day.
