Dig deep into 70`s Elvis: the concerts, jumpsuits and all available live tapes.

The Ultimate . . .

Mon Feb 21, 2011 1:37 am

Okay so I was splicing Feb 21, 1977 together from a bunch of sources. It's not a professional job. Just taking good masters from other sources to create the "complete" product. I mean some of the "editing" from that project we don't talk about was sloppy. The Feb 21 is a rip from "Moody Blue and other Great Performances," and didn't even splice "Can't Help Falling In Love" from "Cajun Tornado" and they took the Feb 14 show from that.

So guess who splices Riot in Charlotte, with Cajun Torando, and our Feb 21 show? At least now, I can listen to the "almost complete" Feb 21, 1977 closing show. Not a great show, mind you, but I'm kind of wanted to improve what I had.

You mean you created that concert from all SB material available and filled the gaps with the AR....?

Yeah. Sorry for being vague, but that is the whole idea for my current project.

If you could do that with only audience recordings, you could probably get a job with the SR label.

To be honest,..I don`t like the splicing of shows..no matter what it is..
I want to listen to it in the format how it was recorded ..and if it doesn`t exist in complete form..well..that`s the way it is..

It just feels so wrong to listen to a Elvis Presley show without "See See Rider." Plus, I'd like to play around with audience/soundboard mixes. I wouldn't do it, if there was only three songs from a concert. Its got to be a half of concert like Feb 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, or 21st to even be considered part of the Ultimate C project. Plus the full audience recordings from Abeline with added soundboard tracks at the end. Etc..

I mean I can turn this into the ULTIMATE FINALE of 1977 with audience recordings and soundboard splices. Personal not-for-profit collection - of course.

For my own personal collection of shows, I don't splice anything, but in some occasions I've added/mixed them. An example is a show were the first seconds of "I Can't Stop Loving You" were missing, I took "I Can't Stop Loving....." from later in the song and put it as a start so I've made it more complete, and from the same show. I've also put together songs from the same shows, just to have all that is released from a show or one day in one cd like this :

Hi,

nice project you have fj76 !
I'm known to like such works, even if the sources may be from various quality. I love complete shows for sure !

Can you give us a complete listing of which source you used to complete the gig ?

See You

I've currently put "The Ultimate Curtian" project on hiatus, due to not having enough time to do it, and needed a few CD releases I don't have. This is what it would look like if I was able to complete it. (Plus its 1977 . . . and I got to be in a particular mood to even listen to 1977)

And and as a note - this is a NON-PROFIT mix for my own personal collection, and has NO INTENTION FOR RESALE in any shape or form.
