What would a live rarity thread be without the incredible....

When The Snow Is On The Roses

Las Vegas, August 24, 1970 MS is the date.

It brings back memories to me ..when I was collecting vinyls.. I first heard it on a LP Special Delivery From Elvis Presley...and I was stunned....

I think he did "Return to Sender" much better on August 1, 1976 and trust me, as horrible that Hampton Roads show was - he actually shoots off a great version of Return to Sender.

The live arrangement was rather good and showed that more Elvis cassics worked on stage than he himself apparently thought. That band could almost play anything and make it sound good. Elvis could sing anything and make it sound good, also. Sadly, he chose not to include many of his bonafide pop and rock classics from the 60s on stage, for reasons of laziness, lack of confidence in those songs or bad judgement, I don't know. That said, Elvis sounds absolutely horrible during this '76 show, though he isn't out of it mentally. He sounds totally s-i-c-k. I much prefer the Asheville '75 version. :)

Yes, Hampton '76 was. Among the worst I've ever heard him voice-wise.

He accentuates the same word "gay-o ?" as during the May 4 evening show, both of them are about 35-40 seconds long.

I know.. I just noticed they're both about the same length and with the same pronounciation of the word "gay-o". Makes sense, since this AR version was recorded earlier in the same day.
