Chicago 6/17/72 ES (CD-R) - Unusual setlist including the only 1972 version of Something

White Herring.... we now have complete on FTD All Shook Up...on the AR the last 4 songs were taken from 25.8.69 MS without being mentioned....superfluous..

Tender Touching Moment...just 5 songs..all incomplete and the date is more than questionable..

Chicago... is the AS...just for the records..there is a cassette dated AS..

Perhaps in the future on your list "International Earthquake" (Memory Records, 2002)) and both "On The Road Again" (2004) and "Shining In Portland" (2004, Memory Records) can substitute for "Sheik of The Desert" (2001) and "Storm Over Portland" 2cd (1991) respectively, because the later Memory Records releases feature the better sound for these Rick Rennie recordings.

From the sleeve notes:

International Earthquake = from original master tape and with consent and sleeve notes by the late Rick Rennie, also includes his pre-show comments
On the Road Again = from the original 120-minute stereo cassette tape mastertape, also includes after-show comments and AR bonus tracks from other shows of the time
Shining in Portland = 1st generation stereo cassette copy as the original master is supposedly lost, also includes AR bonus tracks from other shows of the time

I appreciate your contribution, and look forward to part 2, but I agree better not in this thread, but you can always make a seperate one ?

On The Road Again - Portland 11/11/70 (MR 2038-2) (Released 2004) - Great sound and from the second tour from which we have no soundboards. Essential.

Better Than Ever - Miami 9/12/70 ES (MR 2050-2) (Released 2006) - Great show, OK sound and from the first tour from which we have no soundboards. Essesntial

Houston Astrodome - Houston 2/28/70 ES (CD-R) - Great show, distand sound. Features Kentucky Rain and Long Tall Sally Instead of Blue Suede Shoes and One Night which is played on the other houston shows. Again, no soundboards available from this tour. First Non-Vegas shows. Essential

White Herring In Vegas - Las Vegas 8/26/69 MS (CD-R) - Probably the best sounding audience fom 1969. Excellent show.

Tender Touching Moment - Las Vegas 8/27/69 DS (CD-R) - Incomplete 1969 show but a very odd songlist. It's Now Or Never, Loving You, One Night, Love Me, Baby What You Want Me To Do (incomplete), Runaway (incomplete)

All Up To Elvis - Las Vegas 2/10/72 MS (CD-R) - Excellent show featuring two rare songs I'm Leaving it Up To You and Help Me Make It Through The Night

The Concert Years Vol 27 - Las Vegas 8/7/72 MS (CD-R) - Good show featuring the first known version of Steamroller Blues and the only one before the Aloha show

Elvis Does It Again - Las Vegas 8/18/72 DS (CD-R) - Great show featuring the only How Great Thou Art of the 1972 August Season

What's missing on AON, Cisco?

On both CD`s No Fooling Around and AON..The wonder Of You, the band intros and Trilogy is missing..meaning they used the same source..however NFA has the better sound..
A complete CD-R in inferior sound does exist..we made a mistake over Elvisoncd.com which will be amended..re the track listing of AON..perhaps you got the wrong info from there..

Don't forget the Lake Tahoe release title called "Spring Fever" that was a pretty decent show released in 2005!

I've added a couple more CD's to the list since then and edited my first post accordingly. If you have those in your collection, you have the essentials.

Taking a second look after all this time, it remains a nice list.

If you don't mind, I made it more readable separated by year, with a tally for each.

I have questions.

You note just two from 1971 -- not too many in good quality?
There are 15 titles from 1973 -- for the live versions of "My Boy"?
We see an equal number for 1977 -- for the dive bombs or band solos?

Just curious.

Rob made it clear that even though he was including some shows because of their content, priority was given to sound quality.

I don't mind at all. For whatever reason, there's just not too many good sounding audience recorded shows from 1971. I probably could have added a couple more, but it would have been reaching.

1973 and 1977?

Stop it.

Rob, International Earthquake comes in better sound than Sheik of the Desert (same show). However, Have Some Fun Tonight! is slightly better than them both. I have told you this before, and I think you should correct this error in your list. Same goes for Shining in Portland; it sounds better than Storm over Portland (same show).

Let Me Be There and …I Did It My Way and a few others shouldn’t be on that list. The sound is far from impressive, and the shows aren’t that good either.

Re: Audience Recordings - My Picks

Sun Jul 25, 2010 12:24 am

A show, unfortunately, only released as a CDR (incomplete) from Eugene, OR on November 25, 1976 is a rarity... Elvis sounds great with absolutely no signs of being under the influence of anything. While the setlist holds little in the way of surprises, it would be fantastic to hear this audience recording in its entirety. There are so few recordings from 1976 where Elvis sounds as clear and confident. If anyone has come across it, it would be great to know.

As you can tell by the number of edits, my list is updated each time I receive a show worthy of addition.

Rob,
I would respectively like to nominate Rainbow Records' "Never Endng Demand" vol.s 1 & 2 into the upper echelon.
What say you?

-Concerning "Tonight 8:30 pm", won't you reconsider, baby? Give yourself a little time.

I passed on "Never Ending Demand." I already had a soundboard show from Montgomery and a pretty good sounding audience recording from Savannah. Thus the reason for not making my list. I have a personal rule that says I have to have these CD's in my collection before I can put them on my list.

Take "Tonight 8:30 pm" off my list?

Let the world call me a fool. But if things are right with me and you, that's all that matters and I'll do anything you ask me to.

Except that.
