Re: Concert statistics and more....
Great thread Cisco, do you happen to have a list somewhere where just the opening and closing shows (on real cd where available) of each tour/engagement '69-'77 are listed?
Joe Krein interview with Sherril Nielsen: "YOU KNOW YOU FORGET HOW GOOD HE REALLY WAS. I SAID MY GOODNESS. YOU KNOW WHEN YOU ARE WITH HIM YOU ARE SO WRAPPED UP DOING THE SHOW, BUT HERE NOW 20 YEARS LATER, I HEAR HIM AND REALIZE WHAT A GREAT TALENT HE WAS. HE WAS THE REAL DEAL.

You are absolutely right..just one thing ..I am talking about complete shows that are not available yet..I do know that certain songs of shows that I am looking for have been released by FTD.
I have updated the list..now..what has to be done is to replace cdr with silver disc releases,,I will do it soon..

Re: Concert statistics and more....
I am a little confused Ciscoking...Ciscoking wrote:In the days of so many concerts being released more and more fans get interested in questions like how many shows did our man give..how many are available on CD in which format..how many shows in each tour..how many Vegas and Tahoe shows etc..
I have listed 1127 concerts from 31.7.1969 till 26.6.1977.
638 Vegas shows
98 Tahoe shows
391 Tour and others
Divided into years this means:
1969: 57 concerts (17 available on diff.sources)
1970: 139 concerts (50 ----------------------------)
1971: 156 concerts (57-----------------------------)
1972. 165 concerts (85-----------------------------)
1973: 166 concerts (93-----------------------------)
1974: 155 concerts (107----------------------------)
1975: 107 concerts (88------------------------------)
1976: 127 concerts (116----------------------------)
1977: 55 concerts (54-------------------------------)
When I add all these shows I have again 1127....
In brackets I have listed the amount of shows which are available at the moment on import, official and CDR releases.
Adding the shows on CD makes 667.....exactly the amount that some fans have..which could be a proof of being correct..
You stated on ElvisNews that that "Fashion for a King" had the same mistake regarding number of concerts as "Concert years"... and that "Fashion for a King" had just copied the info from "Concert years". Two concerts were wrong...quote:
"Elvis gave 14 concerts during the 76 Tahoe season and not 15..Elvis gave 12 shows the following tour and not 13..always the same mistakes cause they just copy from other sources..in this case it might be The Concert Years"
Skar's "Concert years" lists 1128 concerts, minus two from the Tahoe and may-june tour of 76 should be 1126.
My question is: where does the 1127th show fit in?
As a little note...."Fashion for a King" writes on page 11 that Elvis held 1123 concerts in 69-77 witch is clearly wrong...

Re: Concert statistics and more....
Skar has NOT included the recently discovered September 6, 1970 3 am show..
For Las Vegas Season 3 we have a total of 59 shows and NOT 58..
Skar has some mistakes..he lists 27 concerts for Tahoe 1974. in fact .it were 28..he lists 15 for 1976 in fact it were 14..so the total of 93 is correct anyway..
He lists 25 shows for tour 9..in fact it were 24..the mistake lies in March 15, 1974..Elvis only gave one ES that day and NOT an AS as well..
He lists 13 shows for tour 18...it were only 12 cause Elvis only gave one ES on June 5, 1976..and NO AS..
If you add the September 1970 Vegas show and subtract the 2 wrongly listed tour shows..how many do you get..?...

I did know about the other mistakes in the book, so it's nice to have it all correct.
I have one more question for you thou
The show in Atlanta July 3. 73 is supposed to be the last concert were Elvis used a cape.
I have seen a photo...supposly from Tulsa in March 74, where Charlie is putting the cape on Elvis' shoulders at the end of the show.
Do you know anything about it?

I think you are right..I heard it, too that this wasn`t the last show where he wore a cape..rumour has it that he also used a cape in later Vegas season..I am sure we have some jumpsuit experts here who can answer the question cause I don`t have a correct date for it..

WOW! What a list... what a lot of work. Thanks so much for all that work you did. Wouldn't it be great if FTD would release (sooner than later) those "unreleased" shows..., that is, even if they have them.

Great work Ciscoking!
I'm just begining to explore the FTDs and bootlegs myself and these datas are invaluable to me.
I still don't know where to start, but at least have have a "map" now, so thanks a lot for that.

Re: Concert statistics and more....
A decade has passed since I read Skar’s book, but I’m pretty sure he writes that it’s the last TOUR show in which Elvis wears a cape. Anyway, there are some other mistakes in his book, for instance "Danny Boy" being a one-liner only; it turned out to be a full version.Ciscoking wrote:I think you are right..I heard it, too that this wasn`t the last show where he wore a cape..rumour has it that he also used a cape in later Vegas season..I am sure we have some jumpsuit experts here who can answer the question cause I don`t have a correct date for it..
