ELVIS - RAPID CITY - UNCHAINED MELODY
Hello everybody,
Just a question : Just before singing "Unchained Melody" in Rapid City, Elvis clearly says that Unchained Melody was a song that he just recorded.
Did he really recorded ? Is it in some RCA vault ?
Would like to have your points of view about this ... Also he asks to his people " Is it out ? " and they answer " In two weeks "...
Is there a story about this ?
Thanks
Roberto - Milano, Italia

Re: ELVIS - RAPID CITY - UNCHAINED MELODY
The version Elvis is talking about is the live recording from Michigan on April 26th '77 which was featured on the 'Moody Blue' album.
Re: ELVIS - RAPID CITY - UNCHAINED MELODY
The actual date of the "Unchained Melody" recording featured on the Moody Blue LP came from April 24, 1977.Bodie wrote:The version Elvis is talking about is the live recording from Michigan on April 26th '77 which was featured on the 'Moody Blue' album.
Michigan is correct though -- Ann Arbor to be exact.

Thanks for clearing it up.
But if Elvis says " I just recorded " I think of a studio recording

Didn't Elvis also say something to the effect the new album called Unchained Melody, and if so you'd think the King would know what the Title to his next escape i mean release was titled.?

He was just being flippant. Didn't he also say it was due out in 1982 or 1987? Whatever, he was clearly talking about the version on Moody Blue, which was very near to its release date.

Tell it to the Jungle Room Sessions..! The man couldn't even get out to an honest-to-goodness real studio anymore, sadly.
They might as well have just taped it on C-90 tapes and kept it personal and lo-fi.
Poor Feltone---reduced to dragging around an 8-track recorder to "record" the King's live shows...Oh, well!
P.S. The January '77 session that never was...(Neat release!)
