I used to delight at that little "made in holland" blurb on records in the early 80s when I used to attend record fairs!! I remember the joy of seeing all those superb titles that looked so muchbetter than the regular albums!

Even Inelco, the Dutch representative for RCA-Victor, liked the bootlegs. The late John Brus upon release showed T "Behind closed doors" and T regretted they could not release LP's like that.
Only around 1980-1981 in the UK Roger Semon managed to finally persuade RCA-Victor New York to give him some outtakeds for his excellent EP collection. It still would be a long way to the FTD label!
Meantime we got great bootlegs.

receiving a bootleg while on stage in 1971,

TALLHAIR, is there a particular thread on here that describes your work in the Elvis world in detail. I've read bits and pieces here and there, but would like to know more. If you could post a link, I'd appreciate it.

Re: Sandi: Elvis and bootlegs?

the doc can tell you more about me than anyone
else. After all he once was one of my biggest
fans... But that ended when he felt free to poke
fun at me, here on fecc. Exit doc.
There should be links to my visits to the RCA
vaults, 20 years ago, here on fecc. And several
links to my 20 plus books done over the years.
I dont keep track myself, but surely some fans
can help you. Or else you can ask me directly,
if the issue isnt too hot to handle...

Aren't you forgetting about the records/cds you're involved in?

GI Blues isn't mine, and a few minor other

Hi mr. Riff.
If you don't mind I'll buy you a Heiniken (or whatever you prefer!) to wash it all out. I have a question if you don't mind? My old fan club mags from the danish 80'thies have a lot of Elvis Caricatures(great ones). They seem to be made by you? Poul Madsen is mentioned and a signature that could be yours?
Have a nice weekend.
A true fan, Dan the Man.
Have a Nice Day!!!

<snip>

TALLHAIR 2, your posts, experiences, and insight are very much appreciated.

This comment on Elvis' personality is insightful and consistent with how we know Elvis viewed and treated his followers:

Elvis would have never
turned down a request to sign a record sleeve,
magazine, or whatever handed to him by fans.

An aspect of Elvis' career not frequently discussed is his exceptional treatment of his followers.

While Elvis' treatment of those (i.e. his flunkies, wife, "friends", etc.) around him on a consistent basis was very shoddy (to say the least), he always maintained an appreciation and a respect for the people (his followers) that put, and kept him, where he was.

Thanks--never saw that link before.

Question:

What's the deal with this picture? It's clearly marked Las Vegas Hilton 7/31/69 Opening Show...was that a mistake in labeling? Could this really be the opening show or a mistake and what later became one of those great '69 shows we've recieved through FTD or BMG?

One thing does seem fishy....the International wasn't named the "Hilton" until later.

I'm sure these issues have been brought already as these picture are more than 15 years old now. Again..I had never read these articles.

I took the photo in 89, in the RCA Vaults in New York.
The date on the box is incorrect. Deliberatly I guess?
The show was intended for release on the silver or
gold lp/cd set , but RCA changed their minds and
withdrew it. That's what I remember. Cassette working
copies of the show were later offered by an ex RCA
employee to collectors... Good move ! It ended up
on Baxter, several years later. It's no surprise Joan
Deary wrote down Hilton Hotel.... She often
couldn't indentify songtitles either... The exact date
so far is not known. Somewhere at the beginning
of August.

Hi TALLHAIR.
Back in those days,in that place, were the Elvis boxes assembled in one place? How many and such, and was it only tape boxes. Perhaps documents, pics et al?
Best regards.

Yes -- the show is apparently sourced from the August 3, 1969 DS at the International Hotel.

it was issued on bootleg CD 16 long years ago:

The quality is OK. It's NOT multi-track, but some other kind of in-line feed.
