I have compared and sound on jap 20bit is better,I used headphones.
Still I like it very much.....same goes for "I Sing All Kinds"
There is absolutely no comparison between the new "Raised on rock" FTD remaster and the 1999 20bit Japan CD, the FTD is hands down the best digital presentation we've ever had of this album. The Japanese disc does not even come close to how the original album sounded, as it buries the vocals and adds treble. The new DSD transfers from the album masters done for the FTD release sound much fresher and less processed than anything we've ever had before. Don't compare them on headphones at low volumes, play them both back on a good system with the volume turned up!
well I prefer the jap 20 bit edition....hard to explain but "stereo image" is better and Elvis voice is more upfront, dont makes sense perharps but that my opinion....others may feel different.
Still I love ROR-Se and cant wait for other "classic" 70s albums getting the same treatment

Even “Easy Come, Easy Go” shines! There are other people more qualified to review these CD’s.
I only want to express my gratitude to the people making this possible! So far, I will rank “I Sing All Kinds” along with “The Nashville Marathon”, “Essential Elvis Vol 4” and “Memphis Sessions”. Yes, even "The Jungle Room Sessions". This is a real treat!
The too often slandered “Raised On Rock” sessions, which have been an all time favorite of mine, hopefully will change the mind of those who neglected the original album.
The “Raised On Rock” FTD surely sets the record straight!
I’m not into details yet, but the overall impression, once again, is that Elvis in the 70’s should have been less overdubbed.
If you’re a fan of Elvis of the 70’s you won’t regret going for “I Sing All Kinds” and “Raised On Rock”.
If you’re not too keen on the 60’s soundtracks you may live without “Easy Come, Easy Go”.
We, who collect everything FTD, know what we get on the latter. And for those, I must say that the title track really sounds different in this mix. The outtakes of “She’s A Machine” also proves that he could still deliver if only….
Thanks for your great review. Foolishly I didn't order Easy Come Easy Go...looks like I will have to now.
I saw Elvis live in concert the year before he died. Even then, he was bigger than life, and had amazing charisma. Haven't seen anything like it since, ....until Adam.........Nocturnal 2010 No matter how old you are, no matter who you sleep with, no matter what color your skin is, we can all party together.” - Adam Lambert 2010
I was listening to the Nashville 71 disc last night and enjoyed it a lot. There is some great outtakes on there (can't stand "Love Me Love The Life I Lead" and "Padre" though....). Sound is good but has been mastered too load (coming from Lene Reidel its no surprise). But all in all its a great release
I have not listened to everything on the new Raised on Rock release yet, but what I have heard sounds really great. The sound is very very good !
I have always had a soft spot for the song I Miss You and the outtakes sounds wonderful. Will be listening to both discs later today using headphones.

LD, go and stand in the corner and repeat one hundred times, "What on earth was I thinking of?"
LOL
I only did 50 John, I ordered Elvis is Back and This is Elvis and TTWII newbies at the same time, I had to stop somewhere. I shall get it very soon.

I'm test-driving Elvis the Man and His Music now. I'd been extremely satisfied with shipments of non-FTD items, and so far they're working like a charm.
For me, speedy delivery is top priority, and I'm willing to pay extra for it. But ETMAHM actually has very competitive prices, too. (Plus giving a little boost to the best of the best Elvis magazines in the world is a nice bonus.)
well i most certainly wouldn't recommend "Amazon" for speedy delivery AT ALL! 2 items i ordered from them recently (despite having been 'released') took AGES to 'get dispatched' for example THE first order i placed on 11th July has only JUST been 'processed' (9 days later) and delivery estimate is between 1st and 6th August- Geez that kinda service leaves a LOT to be 'desired!'.

all i can say is 'i sing all kinds' - 9/10-very, VERY good!
'raised on rock 2 CD' - 100% excellent 10/10! this is NOT a rating of the material, rather a rating of complete representation on a unbelievably GOOD sounding 2 CD FTD... best 2 CD set for years- VERY satisfied with varied content AND sound!

wow these latest FTD's are 'senational' especially on disc II of 'raised on rock' for the takes of 'if you dont come back + i miss you- sensational TRACK 12 is what Elvis was ALL about in the studio talk about a 'golden track!'

I also received my FTD releases early this week from my favourite Elvis Shop in London, very fast delivery by the way!!. I love them all, one of the best quarter releases since FTD came out . Beautiful layout and fantastic sound quality. Keep up the good work FTD team. Bye for now .

I was positively surprised with Easy Come Easy Go. I hadn't listened to the Double Features version in a while, and now have come to like the title track, and, most of all, She's A Machine. Here we hear the 68-Special-Elvis, and, if I'm not overlooking something, this is the earliest song having this sound. In 67 then came Let Yourself Go, another Joy Byers song. At first I had considered skipping it, but now I'm glad that I have changed my mind and have these outtakes.

Careful!! It's politically incorrect to admit a liking for anything from "Easy Come, Easy Go" on this MB. The PC police will find you.

This confession, as true as it is, I've mainly made to distract them from two more serious delicts (viz. liking the soundtracks to Kissin Cousins and Harum Scarum).

Good idea!
I still haven't recieved the new FTDs. Drives me nuts! Should have them before the weekend though.
Thomas wrote:"Easy Come, Easy Go" is my first movie album. I think I may have to collect them as well ...
Man, you MUST buy at least some of them. For example, "Viva Las Vegas" is a very enjoyable CD in good sound, and the booklet looks really nice. The same goes for "Fun In Acapulco". These two FTDs are perfect! But my favourite FTD soundtrack is "Harum Scarum". Elvis sang like a bird during this session, and the booklet is arguably FTDs finest yet. Not only is the design great, it also includes two very... err, special photos of Tom Parker and Elvis together. But you should go for "Viva Las Vegas" and "Fun In Acapulco" first. For some reason, most people dislike "Harum Scarum" with a passion. Not me and Jerry Nodak though. We have good taste!
Long live FTD.
