It is a nice image. Al Wertheimer must be very happy.

In a perfect world Elvis would've cut a beautiful version of "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)."

That title -- "Christmas Peace" -- strikes me as something John Lennon might have concocted. Ha.

It is a beautiful cover...

I have to ask: aside from those of you who buy every release (and my hat's off to you), does everyone else plan to pick this one up? My feeling is, there's nothing new, nothing exciting about it except for the cover, and I'd rather save my money for the next release with new material. A new, but not new, Christmas or gospel release is business as usual, so I know I'm not making any big point here. But I'm just curious how the fans on this MB tend to respond to this kind of release.

I hope it sells well, but I won't be getting it. I do hope it scores big with new fans, and I suppose that is the aim.

I will buy it. It is a nice cover.

I won't be buying it. No new alternates.

The price of a double CD just for the cover is a bit much.

I'll just download a same size image.

Fri Jul 25, 2003 8:51 am

Unless there's something never before released (even a slate would do it) I won't buy it.

Fri Jul 25, 2003 8:59 am

I'm not in a rush to buy it. If I see it in the shops and it's not to expensive I might get it.

it looks like there will be at least one alternate take on it, if the repeat listing of "The First Noel" is correct.

This might be the best looking cover since "Elvis Presley".

Fri Jul 25, 2003 9:24 am

I am planning to buy it for myself and for my friends as a gift. I am really into xmas music and I think the seventies songs might imprve a lot with some sound improvements/remastering.

I know we have the same songs, well packaged already, but there is always some improvements release after release soundwise.

WONDERFUL COVER!

FTD should hire the cate who did that!

looks nice!
Iam gonna buy it, my "If Everyday Was Like Christmas" CD
has been played every year since it came out,
I think its time to retire it this year.

by the way if you guys are into good Christmas music.....
you might want to check out the Brian Setzer Orchestra's Cd
"Boogie, Woogie, Christmas", Setzer covers "Blue Christmas",
"Santa Claus Is Back In Town" , and does a duet with Ann-Margret
on "Baby its Cold Outside".

For those who don't know who Brian Setzer is,
he is the leader of the 80's hit Rockabilly band The Stray Cats.

definetely beautiful artwork from the good ole boys at RCA and one that might catch the "joe public's" attention, but maybe the should have called it "Christmas Gospel" and put "Run On" on this package! LOLmore than likely, it'll be in my collection!

Yes I reckon it will be available most places. :D

Fri Jul 25, 2003 11:08 am

Would you care if BMG did some overdubs on the gospel (non Christmas) tracks (like bells) to give them a more christmas feeling? I don't.... I'd really like to see them doing so in the near future...

Fri Jul 25, 2003 11:52 am

What on earth have the gospel songs got to do with Christmas Peace ?

It should have been a single CD with just the Christmas songs.

Fri Jul 25, 2003 1:37 pm

I won't buy it but I will put it on my Christmas wish list from Santa!

Great Cover.

Some of y'all must be loaded the way you fall for whatever new cover RCA/BMG slaps on the same old music....

Fri Jul 25, 2003 6:42 pm

Loaded?
Some people collect baseball cards. Some people collect beanie babies.
Some people collect Elvis Presley cds.
Some people criticise people who don't do the same thing they do.

Oh c'mon. All I'm saying is let's not be RCA/BMG drones.

I collect Elvis CD's like anyone (why else would I be here?), but this one is a real turkey in light of recent repackagings.

I too find it boring that RCA (and other record companies, how do they get the permission?) keep putting out gospel and Christmas compilations.

But c'mon Greg... this cover is absolutely beautiful... so I will definitely not complain this time!!!

Fri Jul 25, 2003 7:51 pm

great cover!!! lets hope the material offers alternative takes!

Fri Jul 25, 2003 8:31 pm

Very nice cover....
Looks like a nice gift for my family to buy and give it to me as a present!

Great cover. I'm not sure if Elvis' quiff looks like snow though or where his hair at the top of the cover is compatable with the backdrop. He looks to have no quiff on a second look.
I feel with the amount of tracks provided they could have put a few goodies for us collectors like the Great Country Songs cd.

Hi, Patpetersen!

That's quite a collection you've got!

One thing you'll want to have, though, is the Japan "paper-sleeve" release of "Elvis' Christmas Album"... it's really cool, and no other CD ever has had the 50's Christmas and gospel song masters in this kind of quality.. you'll never want to pull the others out again. It's that much better.
