First pic on the left is from MSG June 11, 1972 show, second is from June10, 1972 matinee and third one from Tuscon,AZ ( November 72 tour ).

The jumpsuit worn in Tuscon is the same as MSG June 9, 1972 show.

Yeah, you're right. Elvis looks too fat and pale for a MSG show.

Here's a shot from the June 9th show...

You know Spanish Eyes normally I would leave it up to the
Doc to come up with an correction, but what the hell.....
He can't be every where

Both your comments are wrong, first of all I looked up the
definition of the word "fat" here it is :

"Fat is a slang term for obese or adipose"

Elvis was far from obese in any of those
photo's....including any that you may think
of durring this period....

I would suggest you get your eyes checked.....

Second, Elvis was not pale during the Madison Square Garden
concerts, in fact Elvis made a comment at the New York press
conference he had just come back from Hawaii where he got
a tan prior to coming to New York....

Where its not hard to see this, in any of
the photo's taken at any of these shows....

I would suggest you get your eyes checked.....

I think it's you who needs his eyes checked. When I agreed with the admin., I was obviously referring to the Tucson pic that you posted as if it was from the MSG show. And I said that Elvis appears too fat and pale for it being a MSG pic, where he was heavily tanned and slimmer than the April tour.

I stand corrected I realize i made a mistake about the
tan comment on my part, and did not change
it quick enough before you read it....sorry about that

An your right my eyes aren't what they use to
be either....

However, with respect to to your "Fat" comment he may look
heavier, bad pose....but come on man he's far from
fat....in that picture or any pictures for that matter from this
period....

Not 100% sure but I think this is a shot from the
June 11th show (vs. the evening show from the 10th)...

Thank you

Now the question is....anyone know why Elvis
Chose to wear the same suit two nights in a row...?

Since this was a special engagement you would
think he would have had four different suits ready
for this series of shows....

Has this ever been brought up before?

I mean is there another reason other
than just common sense, that it didn't
matter to Elvis one way or another...?

Last show shots are easy to tell because Elvis turned his belt buckle upside down.

Thu Oct 05, 2006 5:44 am

He didn't had it upside down for the whole show.

No problem, my friend. Anyway, I didn't mean he was very fat, just that he was too fat for that being a MSG show, so it couldn't be a picture from those particular performances

Here are the suits one more time.

June 9th, evening show: Adonis Suit
June 10th, matinee show: Wheat Suit
June 10th, evening show: Eyelet
June 11th, matinee show: Eyelet

It's easy to tell the difference between June 10th (es) and the June 11th show.
On the 10th (es), he wore a white scarf with the suit, and on the 11th he wore a red scarf.

Just a guess, but I'd say that it's because he liked the suit.

I just wanted to add, the reason why I started this post
in the first place was because I wasn't sure myself
which suits he wore during these four shows in New York...

I was sure of three out of the four , but not the fourth and the
reason being was because in Stein Erik Skar's book
"Elvis The Concert Years 1969-1977, he wrote this:
Image
If you notice he write's Elvis wore a "Portwhole Suit"
with a "Gold Cape" on the last afternoon and on the 3rd
to last show he write's its the same suit, but writes
the suit had a "Red Cape".

In Paul Lichter's book he writes this:
Image
This time it's a completely different suit, my guess
he's talking about the same suit which was used on
the original Album cover of the evening show released
in 72' with Gold Linning.....
Image
Now the thing is I even know Elvis didn't wear that suit
during any of these shows....

Or did he?

How was it decided who was right and who was wrong?

Both it appears are wrong in one way....

J you did good by pointing out about the scarves
by the way

the cover of the album was made for the standing room only album.
Image

When the decisson was made to release an msg show insteed of standing room only. The wanted to release the album very fast. And thex could only do that with a cover and so on.
So, they took the cover from standing room only. The reason why it was released so fast, was a marketing coup. When fans read reports about the show in certain magazins, at the same time they could also listen to the show. The msg album was released one week after the actual show.

This and more you can find on my madison square garden website.

I made a few additions to my last post (quoted above).
I added the capes and the scarves on the list, and that info should be correct.

You shouldn't trust on those books too much. Of course sometimes those kind of books can be very much of help,
but they also contain a lot of mistakes, especially with the names of the suits.

I'm using Leroy's lists, and as you probably already know, Leroy knows a thing or two about Elvis' wardrobe.
