New Elvis TV Advert.(On YouTube)

Thu Sep 21, 2006 4:05 am

Just seen a great advert for BBC Radio 2.

It shows Elvis from the Aloha shows, overdubbed by an impersonator, they have him introducing "The Band" the backing singers are the "Sugar Babes" and Marvin Gaye !!!

On the drums is Keith Moon,Guitar is,Sheryl Crowe....

It's very well done, and the Keith Moon bit is great !!!

Probably be posted on Youtube soon,no doubt.

I wonder how much the BBC had to pay for that?

Yes I saw it too and it was very good. Also featured were Stevie Wonder on piano, Noel Gallagher on rhythm guitar and Jimmy Page on lead guitar. I've been trying to find if it's on the BBC website, but no luck. If anyone comes across it, please post the link. I think the tag line was "What a line up", in reference to the music played by Radio 2.

Cool video...

But the guy they used to impersonate Elvis' voice
sounds like a F@@king retard.....

Almost sounds like that short little Myers fellow...

I agree with the voice over.

Jamie Aaron Kelley did a great job with those "outtakes" from Change Of Habit" perhaps he could overdubb this advert?

Sorry norrie, an yes I have
heard worse and better too

But this guy sucks, he doesn't sound like
Elvis at all, the guy who's doing it, who ever
he is....is really over doing it.....
just like what's his name
did on "This Is Elvis".....

Dan_T I agree with your suggestion, I would
like to believe Jamie could have done a better
job....

Anyway its just an commercial....other
than hearing the voice they used for Elvis
its pretty cool to see.

I agree. But, it's the voice that the great unwashed have come to expect.

If they heard Elvis's real voice on the same clip they'd think it didn't sound like Elvis.

Blame all those Impersonators

that's pretty cool

Eric Clapton shoulda been on lead guitar.

Nice editing and I appreciate the effort -- but that voice! Ugh. I can take Elvis off far better than that. I'm sure many of us can. But, when it comes to the crunch, save for ol' Kurty Wurty, I don't think there are many that can professionally do it. Where is the BASS in this guy's voice? I can beat him on that alone. We shouldn't expect great things from the Beeb when it comes to Elvis, though. Remember the impersonator during EPE's "Number 1's" re-release campaign? Cripes. They just don't get it, do they?

The BBC couldn't afford Jamie !

Can we take this to mean that the feud between EPE and the BBC has now ended?

That seems like a reasonable conclusion, doesn't it? Funny, though... last time, they used his voice, but couldn't use his image, and now they're using his image, but ironically, if obviously, not the voice! :P

Wonderful advertisement. However, I wonder if EPE know about it?

Noel Gallagher on rhythm? Gimme a break. Shoulda been Keith Richards.

GREAT commercial nevertheless!

Ive been told that voice is Shawn Klush.

Yeah, mixing images together is one thing, but getting them to apparently pass the cup between each other's hands is kinda cool !

For what it's worth, I think the voice-over is excellent.

At least it's not the exagerrated parody that we normally get. In terms of keeping Elvis in the public mind, I think the advert is superb. It will surprise a good many people that "Elvis-in-jumpsuit" does not always mean "fat Elvis".

It's verging on a parody, though.

Anyway, any video that includes that girl at 0:34 is alright by me. MMMMMM....

I wouldn't bank on it mate. People tend to suffer visual impairment as soon as Elvis puts a jumpsuit on. I've known people talking about watching fat Elvis in That's the Way It Is.

The Keith Moon bit was very well done. I'm so glad that they show Elvis looking so great, which he did for Aloha. Thanks again for the post Dan!
