It's not Jimmy Reed.

It's not Buddy Guy, Otis Rush, or Junior Wells, either.

Uh, no.

I'm beginning to think it may be a gospel perfomer. I ran a check of Thomas A. Dorsey (a.ka. "Georgia Tom" in his earlier blues incarnation) but it's not him either.

I plan to check with some others who might know, soon enough...

No, they haven't but he looks a bit old to be him in '66.

Here's some shots of Blackwell:

No, not him, either.

Or is it?

It's not the great Otis Blackwell. Otis was a bit shorter than that man -- and is on record as having never met Elvis.

Fats ??

Have you gone nuts,man ?

I would suggest that he is a singer in a gospel quartet or possibly a studio background singer. He certainly looks sophisticated.

Keep searching !

It's not Rufus Thomas, and the suggestion of Fats Domino is beyond comprehension.

My gosh, Joe, did you really look at this list?

First, I marked off the ones we have already dismissed.

But, besides the appearance of seven (7) more women, at least 19 of these folks were either dead by 1966 -- or too old -- to possibly qualify.

And you have three (3) white guys up there.

This is tougher than one might imagine. How obscure can this fellow be?

Looks a lot like Dudley Brooks.

Check out the FTD Loving You booklet.

Here's a 1957 photo of Dudley Brooks (sitting on the left):

Our "mystery man" looks nothing like Dudley Brooks, whose hair was already greying at the temples in January 1957. Brooks was 43, and would be 52 at the time of the photo in question.
