I got an 84 -- and frankly am a little frightened of some of the things I'd have to do to raise my score.

i will not cross that line, i will not cross that line, i will not cross that line, i will not cross that line, i will not cross that line.

While acknowledging that this is a silly and meaningless test, I can't believe some of these low scores.

You guys in the low 20s, come on! You've got to be in denial.

My dog scores better than 20.

I see it rather differently........

If some like ColinB are pulling in the 20s........and I, an embarrassment to my immediate family for over 30 years, am in the 50s...........

What must be required to score in the 80s???

I have no doubt your dogs score relatively high. The question is........Do you and your dogs ever get out of your mother's basement????

Ouch ...

Actually, if you look at the scoring system, you'll see it's not too tough ... and you'll see why I can't imagine people on this board not getting out of the 20s.

1. Your general knowledge about Elvis Presley:

-20 … Who is Elvis Presley? Never heard of the guy.
0 … I've heard the name... wasn't he a rock'n'roll singer?
2 … I know a few facts about him and his life.
4 … I can tell you the basic biography.
6 … I want to learn everything there is to know about Elvis.
8 … I know it all. Have a question? Ask me!

2. You and his music:

-10 … I've never heard any of his music that I know of.
-20 … When Elvis is played, I prefer to leave the room if possible.
-4 … I guess I tolerate it.
0 … Play him or don't - I don't care.
2 … I listen to his music maybe every now and then.
4 … I play his music every week!
6 … I play his music several days a week!
8 … Not a DAY passes without playing his music!

3. How much Elvis memorabilia and stuff do you own?:

2 … I own 1-4 Elvis CDs/Albums/Videos.
4 … I own 5+ Elvis CDs/Albums/Videos.
6 … I own 10+ Elvis CDs/Albums/Videos.
8 … I own 30+ Elvis CDs/Albums/Videos.

1 … I own 1 Elvis movie.
4 … I own several Elvis movies.
9 … I buy every Elvis movie I can find.

1 … I have Elvis bumper sticker.
1 … I have Elvis coffee mug.
1 … I have Elvis T-shirt.
1 … I have Elvis cookie jar.
2 … I have 1 Elvis poster on my wall.
4 … I have several Elvis posters.
4 … I have Elvis desktop and screensaver.
8 … I have Elvis' autograph.
6 … I have Elvis costume / suit.
12 … I wear Elvis costume every day.
20 … I sleep in Elvis costume.
12 … I have everything Elvis in my home, car, etc.

4. Other - check all that apply:

4 … I often buy Elvis collectibles and items.
4 … I subscribe to an Elvis magazine or newsletter.
4 … I belong to a Elvis fan club.
4 … I have visited Graceland.
4 … I've made my own Elvis website.
2 … My cell phone has Elvis songs ring tones.
2 … I have performed as Elvis in karaoke or talent show.
8 … I am a professional Elvis impersonator (or married one).
10 … I dream of Elvis.

Just look at question 4. I consider the first six pretty benign and standard "fan" behavior. That right there is 22, without bothering to fill out the rest of the form.

If you own the albums and the movies and listen to Elvis just once a week , that puts you over 20 without answering anything else.

Now, come on, can anyone checking in on this board honestly claim they can't score at least 30?

Please, be honest with yourself -- even if you can't be honest with us. Admit to yourself: You have a problem. It's the first step in recovery. :D

Well, after having acknowledged my low Elvis index what can I do ? I don't think anything else from question 4 interests me (unless my Job or something brings me to Memphis).
OK, for a starter I'll admit I sometimes dream about visiting an Elvis concert :D

But why are there no points to be earned by visiting this Forum several times every day ? Since that makes several other things to do from question 4 rather useless

2 … I know a few facts about him and his life.

6 … I want to learn everything there is to know about Elvis. (I'm surprised everyone on this board doesn't rate himself at this level, though few are immodest enough to choose the next.)
8 … I know it all. Have a question? Ask me!

2. You and his music:

-10 … I've never heard any of his music that I know of.
-20 … When Elvis is played, I prefer to leave the room if possible.

1 … I own 1 Elvis movie.
4 … I own several Elvis movies.
9 … I buy every Elvis movie I can find.

1 … I have Elvis bumper sticker. (two, actually)
1 … I have Elvis coffee mug.
1 … I have Elvis T-shirt. (an enormoust stack, actually, I wear them nearly every casual day)
1 … I have Elvis cookie jar.
2 … I have 1 Elvis poster on my wall.
4 … I have several Elvis posters. (actually glicees, but I guess that's just a fancy word for posters, really.)
(see below)

4. Other - check all that apply:

4 … I often buy Elvis collectibles and items. (too often, I'm sure)
4 … I subscribe to an Elvis magazine or newsletter. (several)
4 … I belong to a Elvis fan club.
4 … I have visited Graceland. (repeatedly)
4 … I've made my own Elvis website. (see my user name, duh)
2 … My cell phone has Elvis songs ring tones. (actual excerpts of Elvis songs, in fact, and I love them)
2 … I have performed as Elvis in karaoke or talent show.
8 … I am a professional Elvis impersonator (or married one).
10 … I dream of Elvis. (yes, OK, I admit it, he's made guest appearances in dreams over the years. no, damn it, he doesn't deliver prophecy to me ... and no, there's nothing sick or unnatural going on in these dreams.)

These were my original answers that led to the 86 score.

I suppose my answer about "I have everything Elvis in my home, car, etc." is debatable, given the array of crap that has been sold through the years. I suppose there's plenty of Elvis stuff I HAVEN'T bought. However, I have to say truthfully (and yes, somewhat shamefacedly) that with just about any purchase I do consider whether there is an Elvis alternative, so through the years I've accumulated a pretty staggering assortment of Elvis paraphernalia. So you can throw in clocks, shower curtains, dog dishes, just about anything as long as it's a real image of Elvis or his artifacts -- in other words not a cartoon/caricature. Yes, I've even considered the Graceland cookie jar -- but as I have no use for a cookie jar, I've resisted (up to this point).

In fact, I'd forgotten that in fact I do own Elvis cofee mugs. I've been given them at various Elvis Week events. Some of them are quite nice, but I don't drink coffee, hot tea, etc., so they're buried somewhere in the back of a cabinet. So I guess I actually clock in with an 87.

Now, here's the part that's probably going to surprise folks. I always have considered myself a pretty ordinary fan. When I go to Elvis Week and see devotion that goes far beyond mine, I consider myself quite subdued.
