Thoughts on BWYWMTD
I wonder if the writer is getting mixed up with the 'on stool' footage of Love Me, I Was The One, AYLT and Little Sister-Get Back from the 12th August concert footage.
The only (to my knowledge) version of BWYWMTD that appeared from TTWII outtakes is the brief segment from the DVD Born 2 Rock Vol Two - which features Elvis singing it in rehearsal on 15th July 1970 (I think). The sound is however overdubbed from 1969. Nice clip though, especially given the fact that we don't even have it released on the many boot cd releases from these rehearsal.

Here's a question: Why did they not just film a entire show (like, for example, August 12, 1970 midnight show) and just release that one show instead of editing together so many different shows to make it appear like it's one single show?? The edits in between each different show are obvious (to some of us).....it just doesn't make sense.....
"If the songs don't go over, we can do a medley of costumes!" - Elvis Presley (August 10, 1970 backstage in his dressing room before the first show of the August, 10, 1970/September 8, 1970 season in Vegas).

I think in referring to PSA the author was trying to say that Elvis wore the same suit in the guitar-on-the-stool sequence as the PSA sequence in the original TTWII. In other words, the author was saying that Elvis wore the chain suit in the guitar/stool sequence, not that Elvis did PSA in the sequence.

Christian,
Being a big fan of Elvis-That's The Way It Is ,
I've read your post and responses with great interest!
I would like to share with you now, what i'd call, a
mysterious alternate film of "The Wonder Of You"
I first saw on local television program called Music
Express here in Adelaide.
It was aired sometime between November 1977 to
March 1978. Some ten years ago i went to painstakingly
lengths of contacting both the t.v. station and also
the former host/D.J. with no success. I also tried
to discuss it with local fans here but all dismiss it
as more than lilkely same film/performance that
appeared on the Lost Performances video some years ago.
I can remember seeing the ending of "Suspicious Minds" just
like the original MGM movie, followed by the dialogue
intro, "We have the wonder of you on the charts over
there" and then he just does the song.
I also recall during the intro part of song, the camera is from the rear of
the showroom and on the second line "when everything i
do is wrong" the camera shot changes to the sweet inspirations
with only a side shot of Elvis. While i can't be sure, i think
he's wearing either the concha or chains jumpsuit.
suffice to say, it was never re-screened at least in adelaide.
Surely i'm not the only one to have seen it!
So my question is: Did anyone else out there ever seen this?
I'm also wondering if TWOY was perhaps edited out at the last
minute from the original film due to it's length.

hey jim dandy,
that makes two of us who's seen the ellusive TWOY.
I'll have to track down your mate ray and talk to
him.
Actually i remember the music express program also
producing a marvellous video for "Way Down" the current
single in the months following his death.
Mostly utilizing Elvis album/singles covers.
meanwhile, does it ever make you wonder why the
producers of ETTWII chose to leave the reference
to TWOY in the movie, yet the song does not follow?
MeThinks TWOY was hastily cut out of the final edit as there
was another film of TWOY shown on adelaide television.
