Indeed, as others have already pointed out, Elvis could not have been on a drug that was simply not around in the 1970's. It seems to me that Effexor is a drug that "the colonel" is being forced to take, probably 375mg a day as prescribed by his psychiatrist, and administered in his day ward by some large German nurse with a stubble and Doc Martens.
