Good grief what a joke!!! Without Elvis and Bill Haley theres nothin left... Pat
Coon and the 4 lads headlining this event is too sad for words! Im sure
they will line up an Elvis impersonator... And theres a Haley and Comets band recreating the the original old sound and stage act. I wonder if they are
lined up? These guys are pretty good. Pat - burp - Boone... Help!!!

Hi
Universal saying they don't have any footage does not mean that much.
I remember Rick Schmidlin saying in an interview that only one song from August 10, 1970 was filmed, and we all know that sure wasn't true.
Also, Joe Esposito once said that NO backstage footage was filmed for Elvis in Concert. Once again, we know that wasn't true.
I am absolutely not saying that they DO have the footage only saying that their denial doesn't mean anything.
Cheers
Simon

Thanks for the run-down on the Pied Piper film.
This footage and its soundtrack have always held a fascination for me.
Nice to see it's in colour, but the audio is MONO ?
I don't think I'll bother with this one [joke].
All that stuff about Bill Randle turning up the negative and selling it for whatever is baloney.
He cooked up some publicity so he could sell the rights to it.
The actual negative remains lost.

PM your price !EPCOLLECTOR wrote:Colin,
Not sure where you got your info, and I am not trying to be rude, but the negative is not lost. As a matter of fact there are dozens of copies out there. The film footage is not color, it is b/w. Bill Randle did infact also have a copy, when he passed is daughter made several copies for friends in the area, which is where I live. She did sell her original copy, what format I am not sure.

That's interesting !
After the filming, Randle was given a 'rough copy'.
I reckon that's what his daughter has been distributing.
The proper colour negative remains lost.
So why hasn't anything surfaced yet ?
I'd have thought that the soundtrack would have turned up on some import or other by now.

what authoritative fact is this based on???EPCOLLECTOR wrote:Actually the final cut of the film was 15 minutes. The film does exist, however Elvis' performace was NOT filmed. He was not part of the original line-up.
So Bill Randle is a liar? Pat Boone is a liar?
The Cleveland Plain Dealer is lying?

The Oct 22, 1955 Cleveland Press article [quoted in Elvis Day & Day] states the resulting 15 min. film will feature Elvis Presley.
He was filmed.

Is she holding onto the film then or has she sold it?EPCOLLECTOR wrote:There is one fan who had an 8mm camera that belonged to her dad, she had the camera, because she was filming a class project, she actually filmed EP on stage. I have seen that footage, and can tell you it is cool.

Well, if you're right about Elvis not even being filmed for this project, it just goes to show how a myth can survive for several decades without being challenged !
Why hasn't this info ever been reported before ?
There must have been any number of people who knew about it.
Just wondering why this 'missing Elvis footage' story has been allowed to rumble on and on for all these years.
