I also think that the cover was deceiving. You have a great photo of Elvis in action with the title 'Raised on rock'. So fans might have expected a more rocking album. But it's mostly ballads. I consider it his worst 70s albums.

TipAvery - We can agree to disagree, no problem. But if you listen to the other 2 albums made for these same Stax sessions 'Good times' and 'Promised land', this album is the weakest (again in my opinion). It probably would have been a better album had it included 'I've got a thing about you baby' and 'Take good care of her'.

i've come to love this album.
it gets swallowed up by the enormous shadow of the aloha album...but on its own its far from bad and just a good album.
i think Elvis identifies with the idea of raised on rock.
it's his story.
like the song,he grew up on the music he loved and knew every record the dj played.
he must've liked the song because he performed it live.
it didnt last in his set list but still.
i wish i've got a thing about you baby had been selected for this album.
if you don't come back and find out whats happenin' have a cool funky sound to them i love.
just a little bit should've been a welcomed addition to his live set.
but the stand out track for me is the beautiful for ol' times sake.
i love the mood...the feel...and as always...that voice.
thats what it always comes back to.
thats what brings us here in unison.
