Re: Gentle on my mind
Elvis' version is okay, but far from the best track on FEIM. Glen's version is masterfully understated. One of the best 3 or 4 tracks he ever cut - right up there with Wichita Lineman, By the Time I Get to Phoenix, and Galveston.

Re: Gentle on my mind
IMHO, there is no question about it: Elvis' version of this is the best. His voice is so rich and passion as he sings. This is one of my favorite Elvis covers. Elvis' version for me, is very believable.

Re: Gentle on my mind
It's a good version, but I think probably my least favorite of the FEIM tracks....if there can be any such thing.

Re: Gentle on my mind
Elvis version is the best.
He sang it with more feeling than Glen Campbell did. IMO

Re: Gentle on my mind
Elvis's version burns! "I dip my cup of soup . . ." He makes it into a life-and-death proposition.
Somebody uploaded this a year ago yesterday. (Must always look at "12" or "13"! ) It says "from the original acetate." And "unreleased alternate take."
