Sgt Pepper ever wondered why no Elvis on the cover?
Answer:-
When Paul was asked why Elvis Presley was not on the album cover he said: “Elvis was too important and too far above the rest even to mention- he was more than merely a pop singer, he was Elvis the King.”
WOW!!!!!

Probably up there with the Before Elvis there was nothing John Lennon quote.
I love the Beatles, my point is simply these are amazing words, that these words were said from the fab four, simply astounding to me.

Since you knew the answer and you answered it yourself then why bother making a thread about it?

Re: Sgt Pepper ever wondered why no Elvis on the cover?
I just discovered it. For years i thought it was some sort of snub or the Beatles saying ha you are forgotten so we cant include you on the cover of our album.
But the real reason is just so awesome.
There can only be one.

I would imagine that they couldn't have put him on the cover anyway because Parker would have wanted to charge a huge amount of money for them to use Elvis' image.GERRY wrote:I just discovered it. It just wasn't meant to be just like the Royal Variety Performance and the rest
But the official reason is just awesome.

Re: Sgt Pepper ever wondered why no Elvis on the cover?
That has been the reason given through the years. Also that Elvis and The Col did not want him featured on his biggest rivals LP cover! All the reasons make sense.brian wrote:I would imagine that they couldn't have put him on the cover anyway because Parker would have wanted to charge a huge amount of money for them to use Elvis' image.GERRY wrote:I just discovered it. Re: Sgt Pepper ever wondered why no Elvis on the cover?
I doubt that is the real reason why they didn't include him but it makes Elvis look great. Would Elvis or the Colonel have to be paid at all for Elvis to be on the cover of someone else's album? I would assume yes. and that is likely the reason.

Has it ever occurred to you that just maybe some members on here didn't know this information?brian wrote:Since you knew the answer and you answered it yourself then why bother making a thread about it?
I thought it was pretty cool what McCartney said and a few others here may have also, so you're rude-ass comment was totally unjustified.

My comment was not rude and was not intended to be rude so please lighten up.promiseland wrote:Has it ever occurred to you that just maybe some members on here didn't know this information?brian wrote:Since you knew the answer and you answered it yourself then why bother making a thread about it?

I was just asking Gerry why he posted this thread like a question since he ended up answering it himself.
Re: Sgt Pepper ever wondered why no Elvis on the cover?
Yeah, you're right. It's like the book, "Elvis: What Happened?" I mean, the people behind that quite obviously knew exactly what happened, they wrote a book about it for heavens sake, so why bother? Then there's that film, "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?" I said to the producers, I said, look, clearly you know what happened to her, stop wasting our time. You can probably sum it up in a paragraph or two, put it on a postcard and send it to me, that's two and a quarter hours of my life I can put to better use.brian wrote:My comment was not rude and was not intended to be rude so please lighten up.promiseland wrote:Has it ever occurred to you that just maybe some members on here didn't know this information?brian wrote:Since you knew the answer and you answered it yourself then why bother making a thread about it?

Wow! Just shows how out of touch Elvis and Parker were to think that Elvis rivaled The Beatles in 1967... Elvis who??r&b wrote:Also that Elvis and The Col did not want him featured on his biggest rivals LP cover!

I don't know that Elvis and Colonel Parker thought that it was just r&b's own musings.
Re: Sgt Pepper ever wondered why no Elvis on the cover?
Well the two biggest acts ever in the history of pop music were Elvis and The Beatles, despite Elvis' career slide by 1967. If pictured on that cover, he would have been the biggest musical icon on it.elvis-fan wrote:Wow! Just shows how out of touch Elvis and Parker were to think that Elvis rivaled The Beatles in 1967... Agreed... my response was somewhat "tongue-in-cheek"...r&b wrote:Well the two biggest acts ever in the history of pop music were Elvis and The Beatles, despite Elvis' career slide by 1967. Re: Sgt Pepper ever wondered why no Elvis on the cover?
To me this is one of the greatest cover albums of all time, even after nearly 50 years. And I suspect Colonel Tom Parker was too busy to promote the Double Trouble movie and LP to notice The Beatles masterpiece album cover.
