Close to the Suvern Rock tradition, I consider The Drive-By Truckers the finest American band of the past 20 years. A little past their best in the studio now possibly but their classic period from 98 - 08 contains some of the greatest Rock n Roll of all time IMVHO.

What the !JEFF d wrote:ok you can throw out all your other albums and cds now........ STEEL PANTHER IS IN THE HOUSE!!
FEEL THE STEEL!!!!!

I'd never heard Steel Panther. With different lyrical content (obviously ) they sound good enough to have been competing with some of the big names from the genre, back in the day.
I actually listened to the 'Feel The Steel' album on Spotify earlier.

Hail The Panther! Death To All Butt Metal, lol!
Those guys are serious players and are great for a laugh... even though some of their material is very near the knuckle. Not for the easily offended or the politically correct... Just the way we like 'em!

You're very welcome, compadre. Check out these albums for starters: Southern Rock Opera, The Dirty South, Decoration Day. The Stones meet AC/DC meet Neil Young meet Skynyrd meet Petty
And an absolutely superb live act.

This is a great track from Romeo's Daughter off their 1988 debut album.
'Wild Child', also from that album was later covered by Heart on the 'Brigade' album.

"ROCK THE KING" (formerly "Metal Elvis")... playing a hybrid of Little Sister and the theme from The Munsters... featuring Elvis, Slash, Nikki Sixx and Peter Criss

Sadly, another great Rocker has passed away. RIP bassist Jimmy Bain. What a catalog of work he left behind.

Re: THE HARD ROCK & METAL THREAD
Nice words from Viv Campbell...
A message from Vivian..
It's with the heaviest of hearts that I must confirm the news of the passing of our dear friend and Last In Line band-mate, Jimmy Bain. It was Jimmy who gave me my first big break in the music industry and for that I am forever indebted.
Jimmy's struggles with his demons were well documented through the years, but over the last 18 months he had finally won that battle and he was bright and lucid and motivated throughout the writing and recording of the new record. He leaves behind him a rich legacy of work from Rainbow, through Wild Horses, Dio, and finally, Last In Line. Jimmy was immensely proud of our new album and his input to it was immeasurable.
He was a very kind and gentle and generous soul and our lives were greatly enriched for having known him. We will continue to celebrate his life through his music.
On behalf of Vinny and Andrew, our thoughts and condolences are with his family at this most difficult of times.
Rest in peace, dear friend.
