James has his own style by using the flat pick and the National finger pick. Other guitarists who were influenced by James, such as Albert Lee, mainly use a flat-pick.

So...who plays in the same "style" as James? Easy! James Burton!

The better question (to get more varied answers) would have been, "Which guitarists has James Burton influenced the most?" In that regard, you would have:

Don Rich (of the Buckaroos)
Clarence White (who took lessons on electric guitar from James before joining "The Byrds")
Brad Paisley
Vince Gill
Albert Lee
Nashville Studio ace, Brent Mason
Roy Nichols
Danny Gatton
Steve Wariner

The list could go on, I'm sure.....but above are eight guitarists who were influeced by James and came up with their own style.

"If the songs don't go over, we can do a medley of costumes!" - Elvis Presley (August 10, 1970 backstage in his dressing room before the first show of the August, 10, 1970/September 8, 1970 season in Vegas).

Roy Nichols is mostly well known for his work with Merle Haggard, but he was already a highly regarded professional guitar player by the late 40s / early 50s, with The Maddox Brothers and Rose, for example. I bet Burton was a Nichols fan.

This recording dates from late 1950, and was released early 1951. Roy Nichols plays lead guitar - he was only 18 years old. Check his playing throughout the track, especially at the end, where he plays an amazing solo, finished with a "Roy Nichols, play that thing!!!" shout by the Brothers and Rose.

..
Maddox Brothers and Rose - "South" - 4-Star single 1577 - Recorded late 1950.

Cool! Thanks for that! I guess I got Roy mixed up in there somehow....

How does Dot Wiggin fit into someone who plays in the same style as James? She looks to me to be just a vocalist.

No, she was a lead guitar player, just like James Burton!

Do you mean with there hands one usually strumming the chords and one fretting the notes whilst the guitar is slung over their shoulder, legs slightly apart (if standing of course) :facep: :facep:
