Out of all those 'other 60's groups' who now is obscure? An act that changes culture and musical direction/history can never be overrated. You dont like them is one thing. But overrated? No way. Many people I know think Elvis is the most overrated performer in history, peaking before 1958.charro1971 wrote:Don't like the Beatles. They are very overrated. I don't mind George Harrison because he was in the Traveling Wilburys. I remember reading that Elvis didn't like John Lennon.

Re: Whose is your favorite Beatle?
Cool! A Beatles question in the All Elvis section! That shakes things up a little bit! Hey, Rob, if you're out there this place isn't boring anymore!
Favorite Beatle?
If you're cool you're gonna pick John.
If you're mysterious (or you like to be different) you're gonna pick George.
If you're silly you're gonna pick Ringo.
But Paul McCartney? Only the uncoolest of the uncool would pick McCartney!
Actually, I like John and Paul equally.
But for the sake of argument, I'll pick Paul because he wrote "Eleanor Rigby," "Let It Be," "Hey Jude," "Yesterday," "Blackbird," "Helter Skelter," "Get Back," "Penny Lane," "I Saw Her Standing There," "I've Just Seen a Face," "Lady Madonna," "The Long and Winding Road," "Magical Mystery Tour," "Paperback Writer," "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," "Two of Us," "We Can Work It Out," "The Fool On The Hill," "I'll Follow The Sun," "Back In The U.S.S.R.," "All My Loving," "Can't Buy Me Love," "Got To Get You Into My Life," "Michelle," "And I Love Her," "Mother Nature's Son," "For No One," "Things We Said Today" and "Here, There and Everywhere" to name a few…
And what would Lennon's iconic "Strawberry Fields Forever" be without the mellotron opening that McCartney wrote and played? Or "Come Together" without McCartney's brilliant bass line? What about Paul's drumming on "‘The Ballad of John and Yoko"?
Of course someone could come up with an equally tantalizing list of songs written by Lennon.
My point is that they were equals. And neither were as good alone as they were together. Together they created magic beyond reason.
My favorite is Lennon/McCartney, the greatest songwriting team in the history of pop music.

I like them all, but maybe John Lennon is still my favourite.
Are they overrated? In FECC they certainly are.

Re: Whose is your favorite Beatle?
I like them all equally. They all played their parts very well, and, as solo acts, were bigtime players in the music industry. There are things about each I don't care for, but a whole lot more about each that I love.

Awful band. Shocking that people still remember them!
