No man is a failure ...

Post by George Smith »

Just watched the whole movie again, as I seem to do every year, with tears streaming down my face.

Magic, magic film.

..
Merry Christmas, my dear friends.

Frank Capra's "It's A Wonderful Life" is a wonderful motion picture, not the least of which is because George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart) defers time and again his own dreams, to his city, boss, family and friends, for the common good and learns how richly rewarding such selflessness can be.

All the same to you and your loved ones, George Smith!

I will watch on Christmas Eve, as always. It is in the local multiplex that night, and considering going.

Thank you so much, George. The message gives me hope and strength every year.

And the film is more appreciated at the end of the roughest years. Because I know there's real truth there.

Have a wonderful holiday! :D

It seems I am not alone in my devotion.

For those who haven't yet watched and fallen in love with this heart-warming, life-affirming movie ... I strongly urge you so to do: Christmas will never be the same again.

It's nice that one of Stewart's and Capra's best films get an airing every Christmas and still manages to move people. If you liked this, though, also allow yourself at some point to see another Stewart film directed by Capra: the wonderful Mr Smith Goes to Washington. Like It's A Wonderful Life, it's a great film with a big heart, and still relevant today.

Thanks for the link George. You've spoilt the ending though for anyone who hasn't seen it.

I saw It's a Wonderful Life at the cinema today -- it's always a treat and a joy to see on the big screen; especially in a packed house. It's one of my favourite films because the message is not only timeless, but the story rings true.

Here's the marvellous Radio adaptation starring Jimmy Stewart and some other fine actors including the wonderful Victor Moore.

Dim your lights and listen along with your family in the Christmas lights. It's a very nice experience and a nice alternative to watching the film.

Lovely links, John, you know how I love this sort of thing -- thanks also for your other "gift."

SLGM, thanks for the radio show link: I'll listen on Tuesday!

And thank you all for the generous good wishes -- God bless us, everyone.
