I don`t think I ever heard about her. I just looked her up on Wikipedia and she didn`t ring a bell to me. Can I ask why you want to know please?

I grew up watching and laughing continually at and with the great Carol Burnett. Here in the USA she was immensely popular for many years. And just last night as you may know, was celebrated with a 2 hour PBS Special receiving "The Mark Twain Award" for American humor, she is an american Icon.

I loved her show in the '70s. It was laugh out loud funny.

Tim and Harvey together were priceless.

I never saw a comedian crack up as much as Harvey Korman did at Tim Conway, during their skits. Remember this one Rob?

Interesting to test "our" assumption that huge U.S. stars are known everywhere.

Apparently not. Ego-bruising.

yes Tim and Harvey made the show IMO.. was just watching it a couple weeks ago, good times.. also I'm not sure if this movie is big outside of the U.S. but she was also in the original "Annie" movie back in the 80's..

Not well known at all- infact apart from a few of the current " Stars" -very few major Hollywood/Interrnational celebs are well known. Among the English speaking population, Elvis is well known, as also the Beatles, Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix.

Quite recently, I happened to catch a bit of Carol ôn a TV show, talking about her late daughters' unfinished book " Sunrise in Memphis" -of her plans on visiting Graceland, which Carol has now completed on her behalf. I am waiting for the Paperback version to come out, as the Hardbound edition is very expensive.

I can't speak for anyone else, but since the topic was clearly satirical, I would imagine the answers (in the negative) were a revelation, even perhaps to the OP.

She is, in fact, NOT that well-known the world over.

Don't know about the OP, but this sure surprised me! I've "known" her well just about my whole life, and it's shocking that it's mainly a domestic thing with her. Stunned me. She is someone totally taken-for-granted here as "universally" known. So, that should surprise any Yank.

Wonder why it's different with music stars? ?
