Going to Springsteen concert.

Postby Pink&Black » Sun Jun 16, 2013 8:53 pm

Next Saturday June 22nd I am going to the Bruce Springsteen concert in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Anyone here who has recently seen him, or is going to see him?

I saw him in August and October last year. With Bruce you are always in for a treat. An energetic 3 hour show that will make you want to see him again and again!
Take care,

Paul

I've had the honor of seeing him in concert many times, most recently on Friday, November 30, 2012 in Oakland, CA.

Have fun, Houndog. He played Follow that Dream in Oslo, would be cool if he played it again.

You will have a blast - Bruce always delivers the goods.

I've seen him twice now - at the Emirates Stadium in 08 and at Hyde Park last year.

Ah, I'm guessing you will be going with Bob-Holland? Anyway the only bad thing about a Springsteen concert is you want to go again (and again :)) Enjoy!

That's a funny coincidence, I'm going with my daughter as well.
Don't have a son in law yet, 'cause she is only 11 years old (but she's already going to see the world's best live entertainer for the 3rd time).

I think its safe to say that norrie is a bit rough round the edges this morning. My son was at the show and no news from him either.

It appears Bruce played for 3.5 hours last night.

There was a moving tribute to "The Big Man" who passed away exactly 2 years to the day. 18th June, 2011

BRUCE Springsteen jetted into Scotland in not one but two private jets today.
The Boss proved to be every bit the superstar as he and his entourage took over an Airbus and a smaller private jet to make it up for his gig at Hampden.
Shortly before 3pm his first plane arrived carrying his entourage and E Street band members including Stevie Van Zandt and Nils Lofgren alongside a fleet of people carriers.
Then just after 4pm The Boss, looking tanned and relaxed in a leather jacket with the collar up paired with jeans, arrived on his own by a smaller executive jet.
He took in the Scots sunshine in his shades before being whisked to our National Football Stadium in a silver Mercedes.

I don't know who enjoys the shows more,Bruce or the audience as he has a grin from ear to ear most of the time and so did I.The interaction with the crowd is fantastic he really makes you feel part of it all and he welcomes new fans as well as veterans with equal measure.
The show itself is a masterclass in stadium rock with no gimmicks,no need for a huge light show or explosions on stage just Bruce and the band playing their hearts out.
This was no "album" show but the setlist was first class with many taken from requests and spanning his career. The setlist has been posted above and there are many highlights I paricularly enjoyed the foot stomping Shackled and Drawn, the full band renditions of the Nebraska songs,Radio Nowhere works well as a stadium rocker,I'm On Fire is always a delight,My City Of Ruins uses the backing singers to great gospel effect but really there wasn't a dull moment in the show. The tributes to Clarence and Danny were moving but this was a show full of joy especially when a young chap was hoisted on stage to sing a few lines of Waiting on A Sunny Day which was fantastic especially since it was a sunny day in Scotland for a change. There was also a fun moment when Bruce tried an Elvis ending to a song but the band didn't pick up on it they just stopped,so Bruce made them repeat the ending to smiles all round.
No doubt about it Bruce and the band are in top form and they have more passion and energy than anyone has the right to have.If you are going to see the show you are in for a treat.
