BIO

SUN RECORDS (Where Rock & Roll Was Born) is an American record label founded by Sam Phillips in Memphis, Tennessee on March 27, 1952. Sun Records was notable for discovering and recording such influential musicians as Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Charlie Rich, Bill Lee Riley, Sonny Burgess and Conway Twitty. Prior to recording those artists, Sun Records had concentrated on recording African-American musicians such as B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, and Rufus Thomas. The music of many Sun Records musicians helped lay the foundation of rock and roll and was a major influence on many other musicians, particularly the Beatles.

The Tony Award winning Broadway musical, Million Dollar Quartet, is based on the famous photograph of Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis grouped around Elvis Presley at the piano taken on the night when the four joined in an impromptu jam session at Sun Record's one-room sound studio on December 4,1956.

EDDIE CLENDENING is raising the bar for authentic Rock 'n' Roll, Rockabilly and Country music. Contemporary musicians, American roots music fans and critics from around the world have been taking notice of this explosive and handsome young front-man for not only his vocal ability, but also his work on the electric guitar. Eddie Clendening is also an actor, and has recently starred as Johnny Cash in the show, "Ring of Fire". Prior to playing the role of Cash, for five years Eddie Clendening played Elvis Presley in the Tony Award winning Broadway Musical, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, which was inspired by the famed 1956 recording session. Eddie Clendening is very proud to have been a part of the Million Dollar Quartet family, giving him a chance to present genuine American Rock and Roll to a Broadway audience. Eddie brings with him well over a decade of experience on the stage, singing and playing his guitar along side early rock-n-roll greats like Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Dale Hawkins, Wanda Jackson, Elvis alumni, Scotty Moore, James Burton, and DJ Fontana, and scores of others; however, Eddie Clendening's true passion is fronting his own rockabilly combo, THE BLUE RIBBON BOYS, as he continues to be in demand wherever fans of authentic ROCK & ROLL gather.

On August 8, 2013, Eddie Clendening and The Blue Ribbon Boys will pay tribute to the legacy of the Sun Records label on the Lucille's bandstand located inside B.B. King Blues Club. Clendening will be joined by a very special guest-singer, songwriter, guitarist and front-man of The Lone Sharks, Gene Casey.

REBEL NIGHT NYC Disc Jockeys host a 1950 and '60 rock & roll and rockabilly record hop before, after and in-between live performances. So come early, stay late, bring along your dancing shoes and Jive, Bop, twist and stroll all night long.
