She was a sweet lady indeed.
Here's a clip of their final television appearance together in April, 2000 ...a year before O'Connors' passing in June, 2001.
Bittersweet to say the least.

I've seen this video, it's a really good one! She'll be missed, but just like Carroll she'll always be with us!!

A wonderful actress. Although she'll always be remembered for the role, she had a great career beyond the role.

Still, who didn't love "Edith"?

That show feels like a part of your own life. I saw the very first episode. I really didn't understand it yet and it looked like a stage play, but after a very short while, I was hooked. I sure miss those days, to paraphrase the opening theme.

May she rest in peace.

If you want a front row seat for the sexual revolution, you have to look no farther than "All In The Family." The definition of the "wife" as the "little woman" was rapidly becoming a thing of the past. Having the next generation under the same roof drives the message home.

The unassuming Edith, with all of her disarming simplicity – and love, and strength, and honesty -- more than holds her own in the Bunker household.

Rest in Peace, Jean Stapleton.

One of my favorite piano tunes is the song played at the END of All in the Family during the credits. It's called "Remembering You". Carroll O'Conner added words to it and did a wonderful job of it in 1971:

LOVED it! The lyric is so perfect for the show. "You pretend to me that everything is the same as it used to be... I see. It's all over now." Carroll is so talented and elegant. All In The Family had quite a cast. (understatement)

Thanks for posting, JosephC.

Indeed I do, remember that! The words are perfect, perhaps now more than ever.

Thank you so much!

Takes the sadness, and helps turn it into warm memories. (Wish the tune w/lyrics were for sale. I love it.)
