If you want to call the Rolling Stones as "The Greatest Rock and Roll Band" then that is your opinion. The Beatles out sold The Rolling Stones during their short career. The only thing the Stones did that would even considered as them great is lasting so long but let's go more into it shall we. Who would be the greatest band? But saying the stones just because they lasted 50 years doesn't make them great. Kiss is mentioned here. How about ZZ Top? 1970 and going strong. So we all have our own opinion on who is the greatest rock band. Personally I go with The Beatles. Look at the greatest rock albums......who has the most in the top 10 albums by Rolling Stone.

10. The Beatles (White Album)
5. Rubber Soul
3. Revolver
1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band

We could go to the top 20 and add Abbey Road at number 14.

The so call Greatest Rock Band doesn't come in on the list until 32 with Let It Bleed. So saying they are the Greatest. I say different.

Claimed Sales
Elvis Presley = 600 million + 500 million
Beatles = 600 million

John... what do those numbers mean?

There are two sources cited - one says 600 million and the other says 500 million. Neither specify how the stats were calculated.

Sadly not....

John and George are dead.

And who are they?

It's the same band who released the greatest album of all time......... :smt023 :smt023

Agreed - Stones are good, but no comparison
