Ryan Giggs - 1,000th Football Match

Welshman Ryan Giggs is one game away from his 1,000th professional appearance as a footballer. It's a feat that is unlikely to be repeated for many years and is a tremendous achievement. He was a hero of mine when I was eight and here he is, twenty-one years later, the most decorated footballer in English footballer still performing to a high level for his only club side, Manchester United. 40 this November, his goal against my team (Everton) recently meant he has scored in twenty-three consecutive league seasons.

Giggs is without doubt one of the best ever British players. The term legend is used too loosely. In Giggs case, it is well deserved.

He's still playing at a very high level, even though he is nearly 40!!!

His best goal ? ....This one's Messi like.
