Following the Aussie tour, Buddy and the Crickets toured England in March 1958. Here's some awesome footage. I think this demonstrates that Buddy opened up his shows with the Little Richard classic -

This is a good website. However I can't seem to find details of THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED LP bootleg. Anyone here seen or has a copy ? It's got a picture of him and Red Robinson on the cover (circa 1957).

It's a cool clip. Too bad there is no info on which venue it was filmed at.

Thanks mate. Odd that Buddy would open up his UK shows with a Ballad. One would've thought "Reddy Teddy" would seem a more appropriate opener. Where did you get that information from ?

Robert,
I was there. I agree it was a strange choice to open the show with.

Wow that is some years ago and something that has lived and remained in your memory. Did Buddy do "Ready Teddy" later in the concert ?

Robert,
I cannot recall it. However, he did do a number of movements across the stage reminiscent of Chuck Berry's duckwalk.
