I didn't like the song either after listening to Jamie Aaron Kelley singing it but i recently heard Mac Davis' version and it's much better.

The song would've made a good album track on Back in Memphis.

It would have been more appropriate on the Clambake album.

It should be noted that the version TCB-FAN posted actually includes the surviving [opening line] extract from Elvis' apparently abandoned 1969 recording.

You will find composer Mac Davis' nicely reflective version below.

I've also included a download link to the short vocal snippet of Elvis' Poor Man's Gold that I matched up to the original backing track, and with a little artistic license used some of the vocal remnants of I Shall Be Released to create something more listenable.

I did notice it but didn't think it was mentioning.

It really annoys me why someone should carry on singing after Elvis' vocals on this track, like no one is going to notice.

Its a pleasent enough tune but the lyrics ruin what could have been a half decent ballad.

I enjoyed the first seconds, he sounded really good on that one...
