Some nice choices there.

I really like the silents before they were a team. I guess it's because I'm a BIG fan of the solo Stan Laurel shorts. There are many many of these available, I have a few excellent box sets and it's great to see the pre-Laurel and Hardy Stan character alongside Ollie! Flying Elephants is a real favourite of mine - very innovative and ahead of its time. Quite surreal at times! And of course, Putting Pants On Philip is an utter silent classic by anyone's standards! Nice to see Sailor's Beware on the list too - another gem!

Of course when it comes to sound shorts, it's hard. Really hard. SO many classics there. And the features, well, I'm glad it's not just me who loves Bonnie Scotland! The first half of it in particular has some of the funniest L&H material ever - especially the scenes in the boarding house with Ollie feigning illness and Stan bringing home a fish for dinner!

And yes Joshferrell!! Whenever I watch Stan and Ollie chronologically (usually once a year - it takes some time but it's great fun!!), everytime I reach "Hat's Off", this is what I watch!

To end, here's a rare gem I edited with some Roach Music and removed the dubbed foreign actor voices (the only ones that remain on the film). Some original sounds are maintained.

The scene from bonnie scotland with the fish is a classic ! always been a fan of the silent laurel & hardy movies.big thanks must go to robert youngson movies Laurel and Hardy's Laughing 20's & The Further Perils of Laurel and Hardy that made amazing use of the silent movies i seen those as a very young kid.i do like some stan laurel shorts but don't watch them all that often though as it just puts me in the mood for stan & olly and i just end up watching them instead. cheers for the galaxy of stars clip don't recall seeing that before.

The second batch of Hal Roach comedies Stan made in the early 20s, where he is regularly teamed with James Finlayson, are just as good as the Stan and Ollie silents.

Also, his series for Joe Rock at Universal are a great series of shorts too. Some of the very early ones are a bit primitive and too Chaplinesque, but once he found himself, Stan was a fine solo comedian.

Thanks for the link, Josh. Already seen this before and thanks to youtube I've now seen all known-to-exist footage of the boys. :D

And thanks to Swingin-Little-Guitar-Man; a few days ago I didn't know anything about the existence of "Galaxy Of Stars"!
