The TCB Band (Inergi Records, 1979)

Side 1
Mystery Train
Hound Dog
Thats Alright Mama [sic]
Jailhouse Rock
Suspicious Minds

Side 2
Burning Love
Love Me
Little Sister
Heartbreak Hotel
Falling In Love With You [sic]

Musicians:
The main TCB band members 1970-77, save rhythm guitarist John Wilkinson.
Nashville pro Emory Gordy Jr. took his spot. Gordy played bass in the band from April-September 1973.

Apparently, most of the lead vocals are by drummer Ronnie Tutt, with a few handled by James Burton. It sold poorly, for some unknown reason. It might not have been released at all, it's unclear.

Inergi Records was a new label in 1979, out of Houston.

Always happy to help the good members of FECC.

Scheff may have known it was a pretty bad LP idea. It would be interesting to learn if it was issued.

Some more info :

Read the whole page for details about its supposed release.

Someone payed $ 223 for this on eBay in 2008.

It would be a fascinating listen! I wonder if they were played in the same rushed way they'd been performing on stage with Elvis for the past few years?

Saw this -- the text is from the original eBay listing in 2008. There's nothing that clearly indicates it was withheld.

Someone should YouTube the tracks. I'd love to hear Tutt doing a 1977 arrangement of "Jailhouse Rock," or Burton letting it all hang out on "Burning Love."

I agree Doc, but it may be true. Perhaps it was pulled after it was released and only a handful got out ..... or some stores didn't send their copues back `!

I have the album. Will put uploading on my to-do list. Haven't listened to it in years, and recall being unimpressed when I first heard it (and I'm a TCB Band fan.)

By the way, might this release be the first time the members of "my group" were billed as the "TCB Band?"

Interesting LP!

You'd think they'd realize it would be a miserable failure without that "certain someone" on vocals.

They should have been more innovative. That sounds like a painful listen.

P.S.

Josh: you're killing me with your avatar, Chuck-E-Cheese-thing, etc.

interesting, elvisjock! this has got to be one of the rarest tribute lps for our man.
many seem to find it fascinating, because they have never seen this before. i believe, after the first listening, most will find it unimpressive and/or dissapointing, too (like you did).
i wonder why it didn´t sell/was pulled back. in 1979 everything else with elvis on it sold like hot cakes, didn´t it?

It was never released, the band still own the rights to it and nearly released it a few years ago but there were some legal issues.

I have an LP. How can it be "never released?"

Only what I was told....from friend of Burton. Said they tried ,but legal issues stopped it, Ronnie Tutt as lead singer? Maybe someone can post it here .

Well obviously they were misinformed?...you can see the actual LP in someone's hand in the picture above plus elvisjock says he has a copy himself. Sometimes the info from "insiders" or a friend of an insider can be just as flawed as someone from the outside.
