Rick's Rarest - Rick Nelson

Mon Oct 11, 2010 4:19 am

Hey does any Rick fan have "Ricks Rarest (ACE)" in their collection, or is even aware of it -

Here's a few songs on it (all feature James Burton, The Jordanaires and possibly Glen Campbell)-

and finally "Blue moon of kentucky"

The latter was recorded during the "Country Fever" sessions but was not included on the LP.

I have that cd. Now I'd like to get the Bear Family box of his 70's output, but those things are so darn pricey!

Over $200. They do a very nice job with the music, but I have never paid that kind of money for music. I guess I will wait and see if used copies turn up on ebay someday.

Check out Rick's gospel EP from 1960, "Glory train". Great stuff.
Isn't "I need you" on "Album seven by Rick"? If so, it's not rare. "Stop the world and let me off" is good. I seem to remember Elvis doing a quick one-liner of this during a show.

There are two songs Rick recorded titled "I Need You". Also two songs titled "Congratulations" - the first being on Album 7 and the second on Bright Lights.

I don't care what the price is but I'd still love to have a copy of that Bear Family box set. There's even a Ray Charles box set that I've put on my wish list at Amazon called, "Ray Charles: The Complete Country & Western Recordings 1959 -1986.

It has to be said that Blue Moon of Kentucky from this disc should have remained rare, however!
