Sun Studio baby ban!
Me and the wife are off to Memphis next friday and have been looking forward to, among other things, a visit to SUN STUDIOS for the tour - after all, it's where it all began.
Imagine our horror when whilst booking our tickets yesterday, we were told that we can't bring our 22 month old son in with us as they don't allow under 2's in!!
wtf???
I'M MORTIFIED! All the way from England and no visit to SUN?
Has anyone else had this problem or managed to over rule it somehow??

Re: Sun Studio baby ban!
It's ridiculous! We're allowed to roam round Elvis' house with children of all ages, but not in a recording studio!

Re: Sun Studio baby ban!
And there's nothing I can do! Just drive by and look at the outside.
Had similar problems in Disneyland a while back. No pushchairs allowed anywhere, one of the theme parks wouldn't even allow them in at all! And all this from a child-based company!! Universal was an altogether better service.
But the SUN thing has really got to me!

Re: Sun Studio baby ban!
Will sure try something like that but it wouldn't surprise me if they ask for ID.
Re: Sun Studio baby ban!
Personally I doubt you will have a problem, your child is after all, almost two years of age anyway. I just cannot see them making a stink over your child being one month short of being two years old. Plus the fact you and your family are coming all the way from England and all, I think for the public relations sake, they will just look the other way.
I would be curious to hear how it works out for you, nonetheless.
Have a safe trip.

Re: Sun Studio baby ban!
Thanks very much PEP. I'll let y'all know how it works out.
Doin' first two days in Nashville, so hoping to check out Opry, Jim Reeves Museum, Country Music Hall of Fame and Studio B while we're there.
Will be nice to be back in Memphis though. We got wed there 14th August last year - but a honeymoon with 4 kids in tow was pretty unconventional hehe.

If they really won't let your baby in, just go in one at a time. Better that than not going in at all.

I'm not sure that there still is a Jim Reeves museum. The Jim Reeves house has been torn down and a Home Depot store is now there. Was the museum in that same location or somewhere else in Nashville?
I guess I should know these things as I live in Nashville, but I'm not sure.

Have you mentioned the Wedding before? Where was the ceremony? Was it a good experience?Swingin-Little-Guitar-Man wrote:Thanks very much PEP. I'll let y'all know how it works out.

Re: Sun Studio baby ban!
Maybe there was an accident in there or something. Or it could be that under 3's were allowed in for free previously and they decided to make room for more fee-payers, rather than introduce a charge for babies: in which case it is blatant age discrimination.Swingin-Little-Guitar-Man wrote:just found out it's NO UNDER THREES not 2!!!! Re: Sun Studio baby ban!
We had a discrimination issue at one of the Disney sites last year. They wouldn't allow a pushchair (Stroller) in at all, and when asked why, the manager explained that there was no room for strollers. When challeneged he became very irate. My wife asked why wheelchairs and electric wheelchairs were everywhere we looked, but no strollers and he said "those people can't walk". Nor can babies and they surely don't expect you to carry a baby around for the entire day. Blatant age discrimination.
We shall battle with the SUN staff cos I'll be damned if I'm missing the tour this year - we passed SUN last year but didn't have any time to visit.

Yep it's such a great historical site. Shame they have to go and make a decision that belongs in the dark ages.Swingin-Little-Guitar-Man wrote:We had a discrimination issue at one of the Disney sites last year. Re: Sun Studio baby ban!
Look man, it is all about whining. You gripe bitch and complain that you came all the way from here..blah blah blah. Then you ask to speak to this person that person. Then you make a call.
You make them wish they let your baby in because you are gonna cry alot louder. If all that doesn't work, go the next day. Usually, people will do most anything to shut you up. Read the signs carefully....or bring up a brochure that is cryptic about age limits. Look for any loophole possible, and use it like it is the holy bible. State that they weren't clear enough, now you got a baby, with no form of transportation..etc. etc. Find a name, and then drop it. Hell ask ahead of time, and give a sob story, and get a name that way.
Where there's a will there's a way. It can be done! When all else fails, just lie and say the baby is 3.5. There is no way to really find out, case closed.
