Red Buttons has died

Fri Jul 14, 2006 12:03 am

Now that it has made the wires, I wanted to let everyone know that Red Buttons died today at his home in LA, with his family by his side. From Sayanara to The Longest Day to The Poseidon Adventure, Red had a long and prolific career, even winning an Oscar in 1957. Red was a kind and gentle man and one of the funniest people I have ever met. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family.

From the May 10th LA Premier of Poseidon, with Pamela Sue Martin:

I always thought it sad when he died in They Shoot Horses, Don't they ? - so it is really sad news that he has gone for real.

R.I.P Red.

Sorry to have heard this, too. I liked Red, especially in "The Poseidon Adventure."

There wasn't one.

But I did mention her passing on the Syd Barrett [Wish You Were Here] thread.

...and Lucrezia Borgia who said; "Name your poison, boys." never got a dinner!
Man, I loved this guy! And I loved his routine on the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts...
