"Graceland Gardener" Gets the Boot

Tue Mar 21, 2006 7:52 pm

"Graceland Gardener" is apparently history on FECC, or reduced to mere
guest status, like Curtis Simpkins before him.

I'm not sure exactly what finally did it but assume he called Doc "Crapenter" one time too many and irritated quite a few people, most recently on the Beatles thread.

No doubt some will reduce to him to being "racist," or "homophobic" (I won't defend his excesses) but in reality his better nature was merely just that of an edgy conservative, and not always predictably either.

Still, I came to enjoy his zany posts at times on Elvis and politics, even when I clashed with him. Perhaps I'm alone in this sentiment but I doubt it.

Thoughts on the "late" GG...?

What is 'guest status' exactly ?

Is it when you can post, but no one takes any notice of what you say ?

I've had that for ages now.

I do not agree with homophobism or racism and he went over the top(also in insults) in my opinion but it was (I believe) for dramatic effect and to bait other people. But if a wonderful gal like Sue (rest her soul) liked him and Genesim (not that I had any problems with Gen or GG) that is good enough for me. In the sense that they have never bothered me and (being honest) amused the hell out me SOMETIMES  when things were BORING like now. :) Ps. GG was very cool and respectful to me and far

It's uncharitable to say so, especially as I wasn't seeking or encouraging his banning, but I haven't noticed that his absence has hurt us any yet.

Let's face it, he was prone to rather psychotic rants, whether they were related to politics or Elvis.

I'm sure you will recall that he really went off the deep end a few months ago and was admonished by more than a few otherwise-neutral members, including myself.

When it comes to politics and culture, I think his knee-jerk reactionary tendencies are still quite well represented on the board. :D

When it comes to his views on Elvis, I suppose I'll get along OK without another vicious anti-Priscilla diatribe. :D

If he returns, welcome back. But for now, I trust the administrators' instincts on this one.

I am curious to know what GG did to warrant his dismissal. Was it something specific, or a cumulative effect? He certainly had a gruffness about him, but I would hate to think that he was booted for that; or because he irritated the administrators to the point that he was booted for being disliked.

I hate to see anyone get tossed. I believe there's room for everybody on this--or any other--message board, and if someone has issues with someone else, that person(s) can simply be ignored. We're "attacking" each other with words only, after all.

While I didn't always agree with his opinions, or the way in which he communicated his thoughts, GG did contribute his share here, and he was harmless enough, if you didn't take him too seriously.

Tue Mar 21, 2006 9:24 pm

Well, there's not room on this board for everyone.

Roelvis was a vicious and vocal anti-Semite and should have been booted immediately.

Also, there have been innumerable headcases, trolls and pranksters who have polluted this board briefly and then been unceremoniously dumped.

I recall at least one time not too long ago when Graceland Gardener was goading the administrators.

All I can say is if somebody came into MY home and did that, I'd throw his ass right out the window (and I live in a sixth-floor loft).

Regardless of the designations under our names here, we're ALL guests.

We should keep that in mind, I think.

Considering he told me to "wipe [my] ass with a Koran" (and then edited his post as if he'd never said it), I can only say: good riddance.

He's everything The Doc has constantly said he is.

The board is better off without him.

Bring back GG. He was the voice of reason!!!!

Wer're going to end up with a MB of Doc ass kissers!!!

OK kick me out to.

Cryo, I hear what you're saying, but consider it a part of your "newbie" hazing.

I agree with Sam that it could get boring to have an outbreak of total civility. I know ES won't agree, but a little spice helps this board. And I wouldn't put GG in the same boat as RoElvis. By comparison, he had some restraint, as hard as that is for some to imagine.

We had dumped the true cranks long ago and it's been relatively quiet in comparison. The sheer number of people writing here in comparison to 2002-2003 seems way down, incidentally. Perhaps there are more options (more messageboards) and less of that "E1" buzz...?

Greg -

Hey, I didn't realise you were serious !

I know his views were ultra-right-wing !

I wonder what was the last straw.................

Or did his arch-enemy pull some strings ?

Wed Mar 22, 2006 12:17 am

I'll take boring anyday over constant fussing and fighting!

The messageboard has been quite civil as of late, because some of the fans that have to have there names constantly bumped to the top of the threads have not been posting lately.

Actually, I don't disagree, but I think all of us can be judged on our signal-to-noise ratio.

Graceland Gardener indisputably had a very high noise level, but, let's face it, Genesim's noise is in the red on the meter and hasn't got the boot yet.

People who stir up trouble -- or worse -- keep bringing up and belaboring sore subjects without adding posts that encourage meaningful on-topic dialogue that has forward momentum should expect to face some scrutiny from the administrators, in my opinion.

And to be clear, I don't think we have to be all-Elvis, all-the-time. I think Tom in North Carolina is the model example of someone who mostly posts in the off-topic area, but his threads are consistently concise, informative and welcome. He has his political views, but he keeps those posts short and infrequent, and he also helps spot frauds and abusers on this board. He's a big asset here.

It's not my place to say who stays and who goes, but I don't think every departure makes us poorer. Whether Graceland Gardener's departure will make us poorer remains to be seen.

Something tells me this banning or whatever it is won't be permanent. It's just a wake up call for GG to tone it down.

Wed Mar 22, 2006 1:03 am

I agree...GG will be back, but he'll probably have to be a kinder and gentler GG...the non-American, socialist-leaning, powers-that-be will require it.

I doubt, however, that we'll ever see GG holding hands with Barbra Streisand & Doc Carpenter while leading the "Gay Brigade" at the St. Patrick's Day parade.

Wed Mar 22, 2006 1:12 am

I'm homophobic. I'm sh*t scared of my house.

Then you evidently DON'T hear what I'm saying.

I've had insults directed at me before. That's nothing new.

But GG's hateful rhetoric transcended the bounds of human civility. You do NOT say something like that in a discussion about Islam unless you want to appear hateful, and frankly, nutty. He may have been kidding - but the extent of his vitriol suggested he wanted to appear as offensive and abrasive as possible. He succeeded.

Take a look at the ones that want him gone on this thread....hmmm gee do we see some hypocricy??

Keep casting those stones. Hell these tools even bring me up and I had absolutely NOTHING TO DO WITH IT????

I do not know what GG did, and I would hope he will be able to come back(If I was banned a number of times, then anyone can. ).

GG is very important to the board, and his "homophobe" "racist" statements, were more labels made by the Doc rather then what was said.

We all say things a little out there, but this is a messageboard. That is bound to happen.

GG has made too many great contributions to just be erased from existance. Here is hoping he is not gone for good. I echo Sam. There needs to be balance. Hell take a look at this thread. Two of em as I write. *SMOOOCH*

Are you saying that you were actually banned at one time here?

There's no hypocrisy at all.

At any point the administrators want to review my record, they certainly don't need my permission to do so.

I'll live by whatever judgment they make, and if they have any advice for me, I'll heed it.

As I say, you and I are guests here.

Some of us are just better behaved than others.

Bringing you up was simply to make clear that compared with you, Graceland Gardener is a model guest.

If given the choice, I'd trade you for him in a heartbeat.

LOL...he was banned for a few months, weren't ya Geno? How much patootie did you have to smooch to get back in? Clearly, GG had better start puckering.

Wed Mar 22, 2006 1:29 am

Didn't we make a deal Jeff D.?

Look tard, if you never write to me again, it will be too soon.

And yes, I have been banned at least 7 one day. How do you think Monika was born?

That was on the old messageboard.

Ok lets be done now. You and me don't have anything to say to each other. No communication is best with us.

Plus this is GG's time.

Wed Mar 22, 2006 1:35 am

No geno I never made any deal with you.... remember you wouldn't sign off on the deal! lolol

It's pretty bad when they have to ban you!

It's like that comedian says---->here's your clue!

I was even gonna get you a Motley Crue t-shirt when I see them next week as a peace offering! lolol

elvissessions nuggets...about that hypocricy. This is from the supposed righteous one. Next quotes. Jerry.

What a douche bag, you are.

I'd like to believe no one is as stupid as he acts, but I've come to believe that he's just as big an idiot as he wants us to believe he is.

And this one goes exactly counter to what you just posted, though you're surely too much of a pussy to admit it.

That's the level of thought Genesim wants us to operate at -- his same subnormal level.

You poor bleating fool, I really hit a nerve that time, didn't I?

You are the crookedest turd in the bowl.

You really like rimming men out in public restroom stalls, don't you? You really sound like somebody who loves to line up for a dirty Sanchez, don't you? Hey, I'm just asking the questions.

That's about where I am now with Genesim as he shamefully displays his lunkheadedness, but once again I've lost interest, just as I did when I was 6.

see, my mother didn't run away from me in fear and disgust like some people's around here we know

I might be the "Kiss Of Death", as I`m not FECC`s favourite poster, but I would ask them to re-instate GG, if only for me, I`ve got a thing about him  ,,No honestly, Please reconsider FECCand I`ll be good for at least one week, thats not an offer I make lightly, guys we need the arguments, its what makes some of us tick....there`s an old saying....if you cant stand the heat....get out of the kitchen.. ie unless someone is pissing you off personally, let the rest of us police ourselves. Please FECC, its not the same without him
