Ancient Irish Mystery.

An interesting short film about ancient Newgrange in Ireland. For the curious. Maybe viewable by only Broadband users? ... entary.php

Newgrange is approximately 30 minutes away from us here in Swords. It has a very nicely designed interpretative centre close by with a video show, restaurant, gift shop, and replica of the interior of the Newgrange "Tomb". (There are those who think it was not a tomb at all)

Hey, older than Stonehenge and as old as the Pyramids, but in better nick than either !

It looks like it could have been built yesterday, with not a stone out of place.

Hasn't been 'restored' has it ?

Image Knowth near Newgrange. The houses give an idea of the scale.

ColinB, There is some controversy regarding the restoration of the outside of Newgrange. All the material used was onsite. Some of it transported very long distances. The river Boyne is quite close.

There are many books on the subject.

Nevertheless, close by Newgrange (and all over Ireland) there are a lot more structures like it which help people to understand the evolution of these fascinating stone buildings.

To join the waiting list to see the Winter Solstice sunrise which illuminates the interior of Newgrange you will have to wait many years.

Newgrange being as it is just an hour by coach from the centre of Dublin attracts many thousands of people from all over the world. More with photos
