The Australian Tourist Commission has a new advertisement out that shows people overseas just what we have to offer...and it ends with 'so where the bloody hell are you'
Apparently, the British have banned the ad because of the word 'bloody'...they find it offensive......
I suppose if our Tourist Commission had put the word 'F#$@ instead of 'bloody' it may have been passed.....
I'm sorry if I have offended the delicate eyes (ears) of my cousins in the UK but.....really folks...... :?
BTW, it was shown to an audience in San Francisco, and they couldn't understand it at all......
It didn't offend these delicate eyes or ears !

Apparently the word 'bloody' is pretty meaningless [as a swear word] in the US !

Carolynlm,

'They' don't find it offensive. 'They' have decided that others 'may' find it offensive. 'They' are w*nkers!

Makes you proud to be a Brit.............NOT!

It isnt the British that have banned it but the British Government.

The British people are digusted as are everyone else with this Political Correctness rubbish that is happening in the UK.

I read this morning that a school has banned throwing snowballs unless the person gives permission for a snowball to be thrown at them.If they dont, it can be classed as 'bullying'.

Sounds like a great advert!

If anything, it seems like it was tailored for us Brits. To have it banned, is, well... sad and hilarious at the same time.

Er... this is a good move. Some people were really vicious with this activity when I was at school. Bullying and school aggression is out of control as it is. I support this measure.

really. this would be bloody rediculous if it weren't so funny. those poufs can go wank-off.

it is without a doubt the best and most amusing english curse. and yes, it is utterly meaningless here in the united states.

once again:

BLOODY HELL!

and may i add the two finger salute as well.

(and of course "bloody hell" is the above guy's punchline...i couldn't resist)

"Thank you very much. Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the big, freaky International Hotel. Those little weirdo dolls on the walls. And those little funky angels on the ceiling. Uh, this is my first live appearance in 9 years. H-uhh! Thank you. I've appeared dead a few times, but this is my first live appearance. Before the evening is up, I will have made a complete and total fool of myself, and I hope you get a kick out of watching it." --EP

Actually, you can't delete your own post - not if someone has replied to it.

Wrong. It was the Advertising Standards Authority, which is an independent regulator. Nothing to do with the British Government. It will still appear in cinemas and in print. The version shown on tv will be edited, presumably so it can be shown at any time of the day. Over the top? Yes :)
