The Flying Nun, Gidget now the F Troop. No offense to fans of these shows but where the hell is The Fugitive!!
If they can put out cornball like this why not a true classic?

Hi Scatter,

You've used the phrase "get bent" a few times on this messageboard. I know what it means but I haven't heard that word for 35-40 years. I heard it a lot in junior high school in my area.
Could I ask how old you are. I would assume you must be around my age or older. Are you over 50?
You don't have to answer if you don't want to. Just curious. Also, what area of the USA did you grow up in? I always thought that phrase was an upper midwest slang. I always thought that was such a cool word when I was growing up. It isn't as obsene as other words for that meaning.

I liked that show too. It only lasted a season or 2 right?

Another favorite of mine from that time period was Longstreet.

I take great pride in my redundancy

I just turned 41.......Pops

I grew up in Connecticut in a little forested town called Wolcott, on Hitchcock Lake overlooking Naugatuck Valley. The best place to grow up ever established.

Think Mayberry........only not as fast paced

Another big catch-phrase from my youth was "WICKED!!!!"

Everything that was considered cool was Wicked, man!!!!!!

As far as I know, that is a uniquely New England bit of slang that I should really begin reincorporating into my speech.

Wouldn't that be WICKED??????

OK, now spill Jeff.......where did you grow up???

Pete Dube revealed his couch potato pedigree when he wrote:Remember how the Heckowi tribe got their name? They got lost and one of them asked "Where the heck ah we?"
 I remember that too.

We got to the top of a big hill, looked around, and said where the heck are we

- but to this day, I don't think Agarn got it.

Joe,Pete.......you guys can't be serious

I could never take that show seriously..........Sonnet was about 90 years old, and the fastest gun in the West??

I wonder where he found a holster that would keep from bunching up his Depends Undergarments?

It was like watching Barnaby Jones struggle to walk up a flight of stairs, then chase down and tackle a 20 year old at a full gallop :o

Hi Scatter,

I also remember using the word "wicked" meaning the same thing.
I grew up in a little town called New Ulm Minnesota. I was actually born in Minneapolis but moved to New Ulm when I was 7. It is a town of about 13,000 people. It was about half that amount when I moved there. It is about 100 miles from the Twin Cities area.
I'm 53 and those words "get bent" and "wicked" were both used. We also called hoods or rednecks as "greasers". They were the guys who looked for fights and still slicked their hair back like the 50's even though it was the late 60's.

I was just remembering how O'Rourke would say he didn't know why people thought Agarn was so dumb, ten minutes later Agarn would say, Who says I'm dumb"

Scatter, you are too funny. At least you didn't use Raymond Burr from Ironside as an example. :D

I watched the series F-Troop back in the 60's. Always remember Larry Storch. I don't know how many series was made but thought it was cut short back in the 60's. There are several series that was was left without an ending of the series.
