Advertising Space - A New Tribute To Elvis

Fri Oct 21, 2005 4:58 pm

Singer Rob Williams has recorded a ballad about the posthumous exploitation of Elvis. It is the 2nd single of his new album. The music video finds him in '68 Special leather.*

This is most likely a paparazzi shot or something....

His fans most likely can't relate to the lyrics, but we sure can.

There's no earthly way of knowing
What was in your heart
When it stopped going
The whole world shook
A storm was blowing through you

Waiting for God to stop this
And up to your neck in darkness
Everyone around you was corrupted
Saying somethin'

There's no dignity in death
To sell the world your last breath
They're still fighting over
Everything you left over

I saw you standing at the gates
When Marlon Brando passed away
You had that look upon your face
Advertising space

No one learned from your mistakes
We let our profit s go to waste
All that's left in any case
Is Advertising space

Through your eyes
The world was burning
Please be gentle
I'm still learning
You seemed to say
As you kept turning up

They poisoned you with compromise
At what point did you realise
Everybody loves your lies
But you ahahh

Special agent for the man
Through watergate and vietnam
No one really gave a damn
Did you think the CIA did

I saw you standing at the gates
When Marlon Brando passed away
You had that look upon your face
Advertising space

No one learned from your mistakes
We let our profits go to waste
All that's left in any case
Is Advertising space ooooohh

I saw you standing at the gates
When Marlon Brando passed away
You had that look upon your face
Advertising space

No one learned from your mistakes
We let our profits go to waste
All that's left in any case
Is Advertising space

I've seen your daughter
Man shes cute
I was scared but I wanted to
Boy she looks a lot like you

* According news reports Sid Shaw– who owns and runs Elvisly Yours in London's Baker Street - London-based film production company Exposure Films visited the shop and wanted to buy and hire a collection of items. "They wanted the famous pop video director David la Chappelle to come to my shop and pick all the memorabilia for the shoot in Blackpool," said Sid. "I was willing to offer full assistance to use my copyright images of Elvis and to loan life-size Elvis artworks and our life-size bronze Elvis statue for free." But Sid was left Crying In the Chapel when someone's Suspicious Mind meant the company took their Blue Suede Shoes elsewhere. "I was told the idea of using Elvis imagery had been scrapped and instead a whole new script has been written without Elvis Presley," said Sid who blames "the advice of some stupid and incompetent lawyer who did not know I defeated the Elvis Presley Estate in the British Courts allowing the use of copyright Elvis images, even in videos. Also, my Elvis images are copyright worldwide and have been seen all over the world for more than 25 years in hundreds of TV news stories, documentaries, plays, shows and even the Rolling Stones used us for a pop video called Revolver."
