God forgive these Bastards

Sun Oct 02, 2005 6:06 am

Or just execute them. Sorry, I'm very angry.

What is happening to the world? Maybe violence IS the way of the world now. I remember a lab study of mice in which there were too many mice in a cage. After awhile, some became dreadfully violent to the point of psychosis, some became very timid and mostly cowered in corners (to the point of psychosis), and some just went on with their lives. Maybe we have too many mice in our cage. I know that on the acre or so that I live there are 500 units, mostly 12 units in each building, and absolutely no communication between neighbors, except maybe "hi." There are children here who have nowhere to play!! Well, this is certainly not an attempt to excuse mass murderers, but there are many more mass murderers today. Or do we just know of more now with instant communication. I wish I had some answers, so we could proceed with some solutions. Yes, this is a TERRIBLE situation!

(About the acre: I am an idiot when it comes to time and space, so it's probably more.)

Too many people? Too much poverty?
These terrorists are financed by very very very rich oil sheiks and their friends.
If you want to end moslim-terror, stop driving your car!

And talk staight about the cancer that is Muslim Jihadism.

They let people get their guard down as they shown in the video
and then strike again.

We still haven't gotten tough enough in the USA or probably the UK.

They take advantage of that everytime.

God can do whatever he wants. Personally, I'd like to see the carcasses of these bastards hanging by their balls from the Statue of Liberty, Jakarta Tower & Big Ben.

The problem here is that when Bali was bombed back in '02, killing some 200 people, the Indonesian government gave a slap on the wrist sentence of 30 months in prison to the perpetrator. 30 months? No wonder they attacked again.

Maybe this time civilized people will realize you can't punish or reform or reason with terrorists. Just like a rabid dog, they all have to be put down.

There's a sickness in this world. Lately it's getting harder and harder to find anyone to trust. I know this pales in comparison to what's going on out there, but just speaking from my own personal experiences I've had my car broken into 3 times in the last month (including last night when they smashed my window and entered), and I live in pretty decent neighborhood. Then at work I am surrounded by dishonest people. I work at a hotel here in Vegas and you wouldn't believe the things my co-workers do, it's enough to make you sick.
Society today just seems to encourage behaviour like this. You have shows on MTV like Jackass which encourages young people to act like...well, jackasses. Not to mention the violent and disrespectful videos that pervade that same station. The list goes on. Whatever happened to treating others the way you'd want to be treated? Are those days gone forever?

Say that sort of thing too often and you'll be accused of
being "too conservative" or "getting old."

In the U.S. at least, I think we are showing plenty of signs of decline,
culturally and otherwise.

One can quibble about what we should be doing economically today in
terms of policy, but I find it hard to defend our culture, from
Hip Hop to violent video games that young (ever obese) kids do today
rather than playing outside.

It seems to me a lot of the anger and cynicism seen in popular
music (and attitude) is as much a creator of reality than a reflection
of reality.

As I argued with LTB recently, no one is defending segregation or sexism
or what have you from way back when, but to assume we are now somehow enlightened while the past was just backward is an insult to our
forebears. Not matter the well-documented laws of society fifty years ago, our fathers and grandfathers and great-grandfathers (and grandmothers, etc.) knew at least thing or two about how to run a society. Maybe not
all traditions should be thrown out for whatever is new or modern.

Somehow, this reminds me of a Merle Haggard song from 1970.

Jesus, Take A Hold
Like the ancient Roman Empire this world is doomed to fall
And it's much too big a thing for mortal man
Just take a look around and see the writing on the wall
Somehow we've got to find a helping hand

This world has never been in the awful shape it's in
And people scorn the things our leaders do
It's time a prayer was spoken from the hearts of every man
Jesus take a hold and lead us through

The mighty roar of gunfire is now a local sound
And our city streets are filled with angry men
Law is now a mockery throughout our troubled land
And destruction seems to be the current trend

This world has never been in the awful shape it's in
And our leaders seem in doubt on what to do
It's time a prayer was spoken from the hearts of every man
Jesus take a hold and lead us through
Jesus take a hold and lead us through

Good ole Merle!

I just took out Haggard's two-CD '90s retrospective: The Lonesome
Fugitive.
.from the library! Great stuff. I'd never heard but a few
songs before.

I'm betting Elvis fans with a taste for country & western should seek
this baby out.

I'm not sure what to make of all his politics (the little he got into)
but he's an ornery, unpredictable guy with some too rare common sense.

I have a pretty good idea of Merle's politics...at least at that time.

Okie from Muskogee

We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee
And we don't take our trips on LSD
We don't burn our draft cards down on Main Street
'Cause we like living right and being free.

We don't make a party out of loving
But we like holding hands and pitching woo
And we don't let our hair grow long and shaggy
Like the hippies out in San Francisco do.

And I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee
A place where even squares can have a ball
And we still wave Ol' Glory down at the courthouse
And white lightning's still the biggest thrill of all.

--- Instrumental ---

Cowboy boots are still in style for manly footwear
Beads and Roman sandals won't be seen
And football's still the roughest thing on campus
And the kids here still respect the college dean.

And I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee
A place where even squares can have a ball
And we still wave Ol' Glory down at the courthouse
And white lightning's still the biggest thrill of all.

I think it's a great song (I've always heard it but listened closer
recently..)

It's not that zzzzzzzz'right wing" either.

It's a true reflection of middle America , then and now. Like it or not.

He's a complex guy and suffers no fools, be it a hippie or the current
President or Senator Kerry....
