ACLU Upset At Marines

A photo was taken of many Marines bowing their heads. That's because they were praying.

This incident took place at a recent ceremony honoring the birthday of the Corps, and it has the ACLU up in arms. "These are federal employees," says Lucius Traveler, a spokesman for the ACLU, "on federal property and on federal time. For them to pray is clearly an establishment of religion, and we must nip this in the bud immediately."

When asked about the ACLU's charges, Colonel Jack Fessender, speaking for the Commandant of the Corps said (edited), "Screw the ACLU."

God bless the Marines.

Congratulations, you've just fallen for an Internet hoax.

This didn't happen.

Regardless of one's views on the ACLU, this is an urban legend that probably got its start as a joke about the ACLU's proclivity for endorsing unpopular positions.

There are several rumor-fighting Web sites that address this one; a Google search will bring them up.

But let's go with the old favorite. Click here and scroll down a ways.
