ENGLAND FOR THE ASHES!

Wed Aug 31, 2005 2:51 pm

Well, it looks like the boys might just do it! We really shouldn't be surprised because England have outplayed the Aussies in almost every session since Lords.

It's amazing how popular cricket has become in the last month, although timw will tell if this resurgence in interest lasts. With characters like Flintoff it's bound to!

Credit to Shane Warne though who was overheard thus at Edgebaston (honestly!):

Fielder: "Warne, why are you such a fat *£$%?

Warne: "Because every time I f%&k your wife she gives me a biscuit".

Londonflash -

I think we might just do it! Fingers crossed Simon Jones gets fit.

The sledging you quoted isn't right. It was Glenn Mcgrath sledging Doug Hondo of Zimbabwe - and Hondo who replied with the return of the century.

Bollocks to you too, Fannygirl! :D

I stand by that statement and shall reiterate: England have outplayed the Aussies in almost every session since Lords, as said by the legend that is Richie Benaud.

Andrew J - Thanks for the correction.

Being without Jones is a downer, but I still belive we'll do it. Lord knows we deseve it. The rain saved the Aussies at Old Trafford and hopefully it might benefit us at the Oval (not that we need it!).

I genuinely believe England can regain the Ashes!

I have to say the Aussies, particularly Shane Warne, were magnanimous in defeat!

The least us Poms can do is stop posting on this thread thereby keeping the subject from the top and reminding the world of this magnificent achievement! This will be my last post on the subject (until the next one).
