White Sharks can't jump ???

I was always skeptical about the realism of Jaws jumping up out of the water and landing on the boat and sinking it. But truth is, a Great White shark can jump up out of the water.

Carolyn, have you ever seen a caught one in person?

In the late 1980s Discovery Channel showed a program called "Shark Hunter" filmed in Australia and this bearded little guy caught 2 huge great whites. Huge! People and kids were standing around them as they were dragged out of the water up a concrete boat ramp to level ground.

With an industrial crane, they tried to winch them up by their tails to hang straight up and down. One was so heavy it ripped, leaving its tail - nearly five feet of tail - hanging by a chain on the winch and the body went * boom * back to the ground.

Scary creatures. But so fascinating.
