Hey guys, whaddya know, it's all our fault !

If you let it happen it is. Like I said, you have the power to control it.

whatta crock-o-bull.
control what?
Not being pissed off when Doc becomes arrogant and rude to you?

Doc has a history of posting TO people directly with his "your ignorance on this topic...blah blah" Ah, The Rudeness.
They didn't start it with him - He went out of his way to start with them.
It's his doing, Rob.
He's responsibile for most of the antogonism permeating this mb,
due to overbearing arrogance and ego.

And if you ever catch him being incorrect on a topic (which has happened a few times ) - being wrong irritates him to no end and you do become a target for his repeat bashings.

I have a feeling that the Great Elvis Presley Scholar didn't smile when he logged off during the time of some threads.... Ann-Marget's VLV Dance Instrumental; and Elvis' Gold Cadillac & Beatles Anthology)

And due to Doc's leftwing politics, pro-gay views and anti-gun views,
Elvis Presley himself would not have a guy like Doc in his inner circle.

Doc would still have to get his "I know Elvis expertise" from library/google sources - not from friendship with Presley.

iF DJC wanted to be likeable and sincere, then I guess he'd try to come across that way - but instead comes across rude and haughty - something he fails to control himself.

Maybe, but why do you let it get to you? You are way too smart for that. There is NO ONE on this board that can piss me off. I don't know anyone personally, so I can't really take this stuff too seriously.

Why let this crap get to you? There are more important things in life than to let someone tick you off on here.

I enjoy posting and reading what other people have to say. However, if today was my last day on here, I wouldn't lose a minute's sleep.

You're too good for that, GG. Take a chill pill and relax. The stress is not worth it.

OK Rob......I've had an epiphany. Your words of wisdom are irrefutable.

Doc......I'm burying the hatchet. I may even tune into KLAX. Oh, wait.....they don't run "Air(Head) America" there do they??? Probably do :? . OK, I can't stomach KLAX. But I'm burying the hatchet anyway :D

Like him or not, Doc's knowledge on Elvis is an asset to the board ...

As time went by I started to realize that he really knew what he was talking about when it came to discussing Elvis ...

Yes Doc.........sly indeed

Good night.

well...i'm too opinionated not to vote...and you know who i voted for.

point is--i think djc gets a little too insulting and looks down at people who haven't the resources to know everything or those who are semi-recent obsessed fans. he could work on being a little bit nicer in his delivery.

god, this post was so not me. i'm never this diplomatic.

ok, here is me:

scatter, you're one of the nicest people on this board. truly. (p.s.--thanks for the note you sent about willy)

djc's liberal views are some of the most extreme on this board. even liberals like djc (unapologetically to the point of coming off pushy) should work on not insulting those that don't agree with them.

the biggest problem i have with liberals (and i do have liberal acquaintances and in fact most the people i end up conversing with on the internet are liberal--except for this lovely republican-friendly site), is that they tend to go right into name-calling as soon as they run out of facts or they start losing.

and they put down on republicans so they can get them out of the way so they can keep pushing the retoric that they copy from catch-phrases given by the liberal elite media. history books speak louder than hollywood.

Rob, people don't have to let it get to them or to let it find it's way to them. It is a choice we all have whether we want to click to open a forum up, click to whether we want to open a thread up and then to actually read the contents. No one knows beforehand what it is going to be so they have no choice but to let it get to them before it is too late.

Rob wrote:There is NO ONE on this board that can piss me off.

Maybe not, but collectively people can make people piss off and away from this board and there have been a few good fans who used to post on here who no longer do.

Rob wrote:I don't know anyone personally, so I can't really take this stuff too seriously.

I respect that, by the same token I'd think you would respect people who look at it the other way for the same reasons.
Because people don't know what others are really like and that they are most likely kidding when they post things, because people don't know that then they get offended.

Rob wrote:Why let this crap get to you? There are more important things in life than to let someone tick you off on here.

See above for reply to Why do you let it get to you?"
There are more important things in life that's for sure, but that's a lame reason to use otherwise no one would be here in the first place if they adopted that attitude of there's more important things in life than visiting a message board.

Rob wrote:I enjoy posting and reading what other people have to say. However, if today was my last day on here, I wouldn't lose a minute's sleep.

Well I repsect thaat you wouldn't lose a minutes sleep. But I probably would but maybe for the same reason. Some people on here come here to invest their time for the sake of other fans. To them it might be a little bothering to know it was time invested for nothing.

I'm generalising here about this board overall. I picked up on your comments here because that's where they were and to some extent I think you were generalising to GG about the board overall. I have no problem with Doc myself, far from it, but others do have other agendas on here and what you may see on the board maybe nothing, but it can be what you don't see that might be the problem. PM's, e-mails, hate-mails, you name it, but just because you don't see people getting it doesn't mean you can reasonably assume they are not getting it.

You might say that you would laugh them all off and ignore it. Well maybe you would, but then you'd be built of better stuff than I am.
I've had really creepy stuff naming the school my kids go to and telling me that they hope they have a really safe journey to and from that school.

What's wrong with someone wishing my kids a safe journey ? Yeah, ok.

Thu Aug 04, 2005 12:26 pm

Steve -
You have your opinions and I have mine. While you make some valid points that probably apply to many people on here, they don't apply to me.

I stand by everything that I said simply because it's the way that I feel. I've never let anyone on here get the best of me and/or chase me away and I'm not about to start now. I've never received any kind of threat and if I did, they'd find they are seriously wasting their time.

I enjoy being here and if I ever leave, it will be because I am bored and no longer enjoy it. Not because someone chased me off.

I need to move on and read another enjoyable thread. Have a good day.

so true.

if we here all got together as a big group in person, I suspect it'd be like that scene in Airplane! with people lining up to beat the crap out of the most annoying and insulting person among them --- and here, it's DJC.

I think it odd to find so many modern-day liberal thinkers here at an Elvis site.

Do they not listen to the man's lyrics? His Gospel lyrics?
Elvis is praising the Lord! Acknowledging Christ as his saviour!

Do they not know Elvis' bio and character content?

Elvis Presley was as southern as fried chicken and coondogs
and owned/fired enough guns for a confederate arsenal
He had a good ol' boy mid-south heritage.

Elvis was very very smart to keep his politics hidden.
Unlike the loudmouthed radicals of music history.
Did Elvis really dig that acid draftdodger scene, man?
Hmm.

and Elvis did not cotton to queers - period.
He didn't approve of it and he did not like being seduced by
or groped by one when it happened on a movie set. Uncool.

Today, he could sue.

Elvis also did let slip the N Word - even on stage.

(Maybe one of the resident experts could name the date and sound quality)

This is not an indictment.
It is Realizing the Elements of Being Elvis, the Real Thing.
Understanding his life.
Raising of his youth.

He's very Tennessee
yet there's some fans -who are very Seattle- picking on other fans here.

Leftwingers/Liberals being into Elvis's rockin' and lovesongin' catalog I understand
but to insult and attack fans who grew up like Elvis is an oddity.

Do you listen to the Gospel lyrics, the Scripture within - or just study the recording dates, and take #s and outtakes, splices and masters.

but hey who cares what types of ideologies are fans?
Were it really counts.....
BMG doesn't care who's into Elvis - as long as cds are sold.
EPE doesn't care who's into Elvis - as long as tourism quota is maintained.

Makes sense. That's business.

It's only when the Right Fans and the Left Fans and Fence-Riding Fans interract with real-time person-to-person comments and village debates (and too many an insult) that we learn the different camps of Elvis fans, making textual barbs twisting up like a cadeseus.

Maybe Elvis loved us all anyway.

C'mon GG. Elvis was a product of his times and culture. Most men from that time period were basically homophobes, and Elvis using the 'N' word onstage or off is nothing to admire him for. Fact is he treated blacks as equals in his personal life.
As far as liberals liking Elvis it's because Elvis had a universal appeal, and didn't publically promote his political views. Yes Elvis got more conservative as he got older, but as a young man he was fairly liberal in some respects. Liberalism per se isn't neccessarily a bad thing, only the far left extremist strand. For that matter far right wing neo-conservatism is just as bad!
There are Rolling Stone interviews with John Lennon and Keith Richards where Lennon refers to Jagger's dancing as 'fag dancing' and Richards uses the word 'spade' in reference to a black person, yet I'd bet both of these guys were/are liberals. The times were decidedly less PC back then.

Thu Aug 04, 2005 6:55 pm

lol Pete.

We all understand Elvis' Universal Appeal.
and kindheartedness and philanthropy.
He too is a good role model in music.

Yes, and chew on this: due to his No Apparent Ethnicity, he shipped globally much better. His look was universal. He sold universal.
He was unique in our life and times.

But the personal attacks from certain liberals here
(which promopted this Doc-Scatter thread) is rudeness toward people who are conservative and who grew up like Elvis. Went to church. Said prayer before supper. Hunted. Fished. Own a bible. Read. Work outdoors even! Swing a hammer. Roof a house. Drywall. Play softball. Shoot pool. Wear cowboy boots.
And be Elvis fans too!

And for example in Doc's mb attacks the message is:
Intelligence is seeing things my way; the Berkeley liberal thinktank way.

He's probably a daddy's rich kid sitting at a computer all his life.

Taking the advice to read and learn, we discover that Leftwing Bigotry exists.

Even DJC has his own Itemized Discriminations, politically, musically, economically, spiritually,
and his own failings and shortcomings in understanding the world.
And the infantile stumbling block of his in never admitting - online at least - ever being wrong.
Wrong?

perish the thought.

and here's the kicker fellas!
The leftist attitude is: hey ol' timer, adapt to '05. Stop dwelling in the past.

yet, that's where Elvis is.

The common denominator of why why meet here on the mb.

He and his living and his data and that great music of his.... is.

1930s-1970s
and no that ain't PC

Who are you referring to GG? DJC? LTB? Somebody else? I don't recall any threads where they attack anyone for prayer, owning a bible, fishing. They may object to hunting because of the unecessary killing of animals, which is a valid point. Or they may simply be anti-gun because of the high number of gun related deaths. I'm a second amendment proponent, but I don't think any schmuck should just be able to walk in off the street, plunk down some money and walk out with a weapon. We need some type of measures in place to ensure that wack jobs and criminals can't get easy access to guns.
Yes some liberals with an atheist agenda want no mention of God/religion in the government/ public arena, which I oppose. But not all liberals. And personally, rather than having conservatives investing so much time and effort fighting with liberal atheists over having the ten commandments in government buildings I'd prefer that they put their best efforts into abiding by them.

Pete Dube wrote:Who are you referring to GG? DJC? LTB? Somebody else? I don't recall any threads where they attack anyone for prayer, owning a bible, fishing.

Not attacking the acts - but people here who happen to do them
whereby making us "conservatives" and here at THIS MB,
the butt of DJC's jokes and subject of PC prosecutions.

I'm talking about DJC most notoriously.
His rudeness and arrogance is infantile.

Consider Elvis Presley's Profile could easily fit the definition of Doc's own term
rightwing nut.

In other words, Scatter stay if ya want.

Doc, shut up and stop insulting.

Log off and go play catch with your dad.
