Because of my age (22) I have never seen the films.

I am going to buy "The High And The Mighty", because I am a fan of John Wayne. Thanks Gran! It'll be interesting seeing him playing a pilot and not the usual Western/Military formula. Catchy title song. And I love airplane desaster movies, this is the forerunner. Nominated for 6 Oscars - 1 win. Overall it sounds like a terrific treat.

I am probably going to rent

Jeff,
I gotta say that if you've never seen this classic film, wait til it comes out on DVD on August 2nd. AMC is going to hack it up so badly to fit in all those damned commercials, that you really aren't getting the full effect of the movie. Trust me on this one.

the amc promo w/ clips kills me.

he slaps the co-pilot and peptalks the frightened passengers.

Now, that's how the Duke flies a commercial airliner! 8)
