John Fiedler, voice of Piglet, dies at 80

Post by Tom in North Carolina »

Unbelievably, John Fiedler, the voice of Piglet, has died within hours of the death of Paul Winchell, the voice of Tigger. John died Saturday. These coming just weeks after the voice of Gopher, Howard Morris, passed away. What a sad time in the Hundred Acre Wood.

Tom

P.S. John was also in Girl Happy.

He was a frequent guest star on "The Odd Couple" where he was always funny and he was also in the original film. I hate to see him go.

I wasn't sure who he was to visualise and when Tom mentioned him being in Girl Happy and then seeing that photo above I recognised him straight away even though there's a few years between both.

Not a good time lately, too many people are leaving us.

I almost forgot one of his best roles as Mr. Peterson on the original Bob Newhart show. He was great. It's sad sometimes we don't really appreciate these character stars until they are gone.

He also had a great sinister role as a murderer in an old Alfred Hitchcock Presents. I should know the episode title but can't think of it right now.
He seemed to be in everything in the 60's and 70's.

From IMDB:

"The Alfred Hitchcock Hour" playing "Malcolm Stuart" in episode: "I Saw the Whole Thing"
"Alfred Hitchcock Presents" playing "Amos Duff" in episode: "The Last Remains"
"Alfred Hitchcock Presents" playing "Leon Gorwald" in episode: "Incident in a Small Jail"

RIP John Fieldler.
Wasn't the other prisoner in Incident in a Small Jail Steve McQueen? Or Burt Reynolds?

I think it was Richard Jaeckel.

Thanks Colin for posting the pic. I too know the face and voice quite well. In the Alfred Hitchock Hour I remember "I Saw The Whole Thing" VERY ENTERTAINING.

DAMN.

R.I.P. Thanks for entertaining. Mr. Fiedler.
