OK.......This may seem old hack to some but here are some DVD's I just purchased...........

Combat season one- I used to watch this as a kid every Saturday night.

Good Time season two- Dy-no-mite !

What's Happening season one

Kung Fu season two

Happy Days season one- early seasons were the best IMO.

MASH season one.

Maybe to you guys this is no big deal but for someone who has been living in Japan for almost ten years I have been deprived of some great TV until now ! It's only recently that I have decided to buy a DVD player. What was I thinking for all those years?

man jake if you are talking tv shows...nothing replaces ALL IN THE FAMILY! I have never seen all of the shows so seeing them in chrono order is a real treat on DVD. Plus there are little P.S. at the end that were never televized. Gloria's rape episode doesn't benefit from this though. I liked the haunted ending much better.

But for a show that topped the Nielson ratings for 5 consecutive seasons(one one other show has done this..the Cosby Show which actually shared the billing with Roesanne???1989-1990 was considered a tie???), and has been a 8 time Golden Globe winner(tied with M*A*S*H), 21 Emmy's, IMO this is hands down the best show ever made.

No other show, to me, tackles issues and at the same time able to keep entertainment in the same way. If you haven't given this show a chance or haven't seen much at all....do yourself a favor. Sit down and get soaked in the experience. The show improves as the seasons go on. Mike And Gloria leaving is the true end of the show.

Maude, Goodtimes, Checking In, The Jeffersons, Archie Bunkers Place, Gloria, 704 Houser Street were all spun off the show.

I always liked Laverne and Shirly and 3's Company as well. Though they are of much lighter fare.

Thanks guys !

As I said, living here in Japan you would'nt believe how much I have missed over the years. I also brought a few of the Jerry Lewis and Abbott and Costello releases. I remember as a kid, not a weekend would go by without an Elvis movie, Jerry Lewis, Beach Blanket or John Wayne movie being showed on TV.

As far as 50's, '60's and 70's sitcoms go, you can't go wrong. I guess as this will be my last year here, it's time to get re-connected ! In the 70's after coming home from school Lost In Space, Gomer Pyle, The Monkees, Get Smart, Hogan's Heroes and I Dream Of Jeannie were some of the shows to watch. :D

All In The Family seems a must !
