I have grown remarkably fond of Tom Jones over the past two decades, and I find myself at times viewing him as a pseudo-Elvis figure.
Maybe if Elvis had survived 1977 and resumed a more low-key career, picking songs and projects with greater discernment, he may have reached his senior years with the same dignity as his Welsh ffrind.
He remains the best judge I've ever seen on The Voice, partly for his musical chops but also because of the glorious stories he tells -- and if they are a tad embellished so much the better.
